#note Hm, OK, I eagerly played this for the TAX setup. But I can play TEAZLE or TEAZEL here. TEAZEL 10G is also a great X setup, though he's more likely to take it, I think (if he plays ZA, in some cases I still get TAX with ZAX). But the TX leave is so much better than ALTTX, plus I score more. I still feel attached to this play. Is it just because it's the play I made? Or because I thought the setup was cool? Hypothetical me without those thoughts seems to like TEAZEL more. This is a strange effect, don't know why I'm still attached to ZED.
>Nigel: EEEQRSU J1 SQUEE... +47 58
#note Actual rack.
>Noah: AAJLTTX K5 TAX +44 95
>Nigel: EILMOR 1D MOILER. +36 94
>Noah: AIJLNOT 3I J.NTO +40 135
#note Seemed better than JOINT, because of what JOINT set up. Actually, maybe that spot isn't so bad. There's very little scoring difference for Nigel after JUNTO vs. JOINT, according to a sim.
>Nigel: DEILOST D1 .OLDIEST +74 168
>Noah: AEEILRT 12A ELATERI. +68 203
#note Not sure. This gives up lots of scoring for Nigel, but I will probably get something too. It scores the same as ATELIER C8, which seemed more dangerous. I could do TREENAIL I guess. Hm.
>Nigel: HOW 13A HOW +35 203
>Noah: AAEGORU 14B GAUR +24 227
#note Thought about trying GOVERNAGE, but it's phony. I was afraid to play QUAG. I could play AQUA though, or GATEAU. Is AQUA worth it? It sets up a huge spot, but scores a lot. I'm not sure how strong this is. with only three Es out, and a 15-32 V-C/B ratio, it doesn't seem that bad. Hm. I bingo about twice as much after AQUA, though! (at least assuming Nigel plays like Speedy) So I don't know. Maybe it's just better.
>Nigel: ?BFPRSV 15D PeRVS +44 247
#note Actual rack.
>Noah: AACELNO 8A CAN.O +21 248
#note Seems OK? I don't know. COAT? AEON? Hm.
>Nigel: BCFFIN 2C B.FFIN +44 291
#note Nigel was a bit worried about playing this, because he wasn't certain of it, and could also play COFFIN.
>Noah: ABEHILY 15A BY +29 277
#note Hm, maybe HYTE here instead. I didn't think of it.
>Nigel: CIRU 10F UR.IC +15 306
>Noah: ADEHILO 4L ODAH +31 308
#note Oh, I have HO 11A, which seems pretty strong. Other options are OHIA, OHED 4L. Opening the H is not great -- he can score well from it easily. Not that jazzed about ADEIL here either, I think. Hm. Do I just go with HO? It puts me pretty close in score.
>Nigel: AEENP O1 PEA.EN +33 339
>Noah: DEIILMT 3B MI.T +26 334
#note Seems OK. I could do LILT, MIL, maybe even LIMITED to try to get a blank.
>Nigel: ?AAIIKO C6 OI.K +19 358
#note Actual rack.
>Noah: ADEEILY E11 Y. +10 344
#note Also considered fishing the A, which wins with an S and ? draw as well. I liked this because it wins with an N draw if Nigel doesn't see AmAUTIS, which is a tough find. I can win without bingoing here, too! AY, for example. I actually got kind of confused this game. Because I was behind Nigel 107 on spread, so I thought that getting spread was somewhat important, to be able to pass him. I didn't treat the game like I needed to win by 54, because there were other players in the tournament. But I erred -- Nigel had the same record as me, so this doesn't matter. A couple other people had a negative spread, so maybe spread didn't matter much this game. Maybe it didn't matter at all.
