Critter Verbs

Postby Wanderer » Wed Feb 04, 2009 7:42 pm

A friend and I recently started a list of critters that, of course, are nouns, but that also have a verb form. Some of these are common, others were suprising to us. Our list continues to grow and includes words like
APE, ANT, BAT, BUG, CAT, COD, COW, DOG, FLY, FOX, HOG, KIT, PIG, RAT
BEAR, BIRD, BUCK, BULL, DUCK, FAWN, FISH, FOAL, FOWL, FROG, HAWK, LAMB, MULE, SEAL, SLUG, WORM
EAGLE, GOOSE, HORSE, HOUND, MOUSE, QUAIL, RAVEN, SKUNK, SNAKE
BADGER, BEAVER, BEETLE, BIRDIE, CUCKOO, GANDER, GROUSE, KITTEN, MONKEY, LOBSTER, RABBIT, TOMCAT, TURTLE, WEASEL
BUFFALO, BULLDOG, CHICKEN
FLOUNDER, SQUIRREL
BUTTERFLY

Can you think of others :?:

Only BATFOWL is a verb out of those 3. The other two have the -ING form which is used as a noun to describe the sport. Great words though!
