Player of the Year

I would be perfectly okay if Seth or Keith changed the formula in the middle of this year such that the player of the year this year was Jesse Day.

i feel like the player of the year formula should be discussed a bit more - it is being on LJ, but maybe on here too. perhaps this thread should be moved to another part of the forums?

Seth opened up the floor for suggestions on that thread, but it'll get lost quickly. Here will be some longevity.

So I think Rod's formula is solid. Only problem is, regionally, it's harder to get points if you don't consistently do well in D1. Which is understandable. I think the problem is it places way too much emphasis on having a strong tournament in a HUGE field. What I can't see is how to easily rectify this. I'm just interested to see if anyone else can come up with anything better, and from there, I might be of help tweaking it.

just as a clarification - is Rod's formula the current one?

What is the justification in the current system in removing bad tournament performance (or at least only keeping the top X tournaments)? Is that to prevent people from sitting on POY standings?

Yes. Seth linked to it at Jesse's blog.
