>Samuel_Kaplan: ?CEEGRS 8H RECaGES +72 72
#note I just had to start off my 1st ever tourney in Princeton with this phony bingo! LOL! If I wasn't going to play this, then I think against Richard exchanging G is fine as I give him nothing to play through and plays like REG are just so easy to parallel. ERG looks like it's too aggressive, and it might not have worked out too well in this case.
>Richard_Popper: JU N6 JU. +26 26
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABDDLMT M7 M.LD +18 90
#note Not sure how M7 MED is better when I dump an additional consonant with MELD. I definitely wasn't doing M7 MEDAL with what that opens up, but I think if I'm going to keep another consonant on my rack, 7M MUD is actually a farily sound play not offering Richard anything new to work with. ABDLT is not as bad of a leave on this board as I would have thought. #visionmedium
>Richard_Popper: EHNV K7 H.VEN +20 46
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABDKLTT J10 BALK +28 118
#note Hard to say if BATT, BALK, or BALD is best- I didn't really think the K was that great on this board and all 3 of those options take a Y hook for a nice score. Since I like to bingo as quickly as possible, and there is the possbility of the E in RECAGES* eventually getting blocked, I decided to part ways with it immediately.
>Richard_Popper: ENZ 7G ZEN +28 74
>Samuel_Kaplan: DEOPRTT O5 TOD +19 137
#note I did see POTTERED on Column I until Richard blocked it. But H1 DEPORTER scores enough to make it worth blowing up the rack as opposed to this bingo-friendly leave. #findinglarge
>Richard_Popper: AGU 13J .AGU +18 92
>Samuel_Kaplan: EEINPRT 9B INEPTER +64 201
#note Good thing this stayed open.
>Richard_Popper: AALMT D4 TAMAL. +18 110
#note D8 M(E)ATAL does score a few more, but he needs to open lines when down. So I don't blame him for this one.
>Samuel_Kaplan: GHIIOPS E5 HOG +31 232
#note I did not see E7 HI(P)PO, but I liked this better in order to mostly block the northwest and set up my P with plays ending with -IP at F6.
>Richard_Popper: EY 14J YE +37 147
#note Misscored as 38.
>Samuel_Kaplan: CIIIPSU F4 PIC +32 264
#note Definitely worth it to take the extra points over the better leave with PIU.
>Richard_Popper: AAABDIS -AABDI +0 147
#note Not actual rack. Richard exchanged 5 tiles.
>Samuel_Kaplan: FIIOSUW 8A FOI. +25 289
#note Should be FOUL in this spot. Right idea by blocking further, but UW is so bad that even keeping an extra I is fine. #visionsmall
>Richard_Popper: ?EIIOST 4F .OlITIES +68 215
#note (P)OSITIvE in this spot scores 2 more for him.
>Samuel_Kaplan: IOSUUWY 3L YOW +27 316
#note Gross again...
>Richard_Popper: ABELRV 2J VERBAL +59 274
#note Nice play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: IIORSUU -IIUU +0 316
>Richard_Popper: Q I3 Q. +21 295
>Samuel_Kaplan: AFIORRS C7 F..O +22 338
#note Figured this would set up my S better than PROF without offering too much back to him. But I would get unlucky.
>Richard_Popper: ADEINNT 12C DENTINA. +70 365
#note By doing PROF, he does not get this down. I may have bent, but I didn't break.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAIRRSU J2 .I.A +18 356
#note The problem with H11 ANURA is he's just going to block any day. So I'm going to have to outrun without bingoing.
>Richard_Popper: ADEEORS 13A ROADEES +84 449
>Richard_Popper: ADEEORS -- -84 365
#note Nice fit, but I knew ADEEORS was a dead rack. So that's how I knew to challenge. Richard told me he thought this was a new NWL23 addition.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ANRRSUX 13B RAX +35 391
#note Easily best.
>Richard_Popper: ADEEORS 11D DOE +25 390
>Samuel_Kaplan: IINRSTU N11 NISI +18 409
#note This is one of 4 winning plays. This play wins because I give myself a 2nd out play with O10 RUT along with A5 TUR(F) which I already had, both of which outrun 1N WE. With N11 TIS, I can outrun 1N WE because I go out with H11 I(N)URN or I(N)RUN, and INURN and INRUN both win because after Richard does N11 RESOW blocking N11 TIS, I can score enough with 5I S(A)T because Richard doesn't have any out plays keeping AU.
>Richard_Popper: AEORSUW 1N WE +30 420
>Samuel_Kaplan: RTU O10 RUT +9 418
#note Good start. I give him credit for coming all the way back from down more than 100, but I also got lucky that he played a phony bingo which proved to be costly. Final score was recorded as 428-421. 1-0 +7.
>Samuel_Kaplan: (AORSU) +10 428
