>Phil: DEMNOOO H4 MOONED +24 24
#note Championship Player likes OO for 4 points here. I can't agree with that, I think MOONED is pretty solid and doesn't give too much away other than a variety of floaters.
>Ed_Martin: IMO I4 MOI +15 15
>Phil: AEFIOTT 7A FETATIO. +63 87
#note Best.
>Ed_Martin: ADEILOS C2 ISOLA.ED +72 87
>Phil: ?BGOQRT F6 Q. +31 118
#note Best.
>Ed_Martin: BPU B2 PUB +28 115
>Phil: ?BGOPRT D4 GOB.R +39 157
>Phil: ?APSTVW (challenge) +5 162
#note Best.
>Ed_Martin: AIT A7 .IAT +21 136
>Phil: ?APSTVW 6B W.. +29 191
#note Best. I figured a pretty strong chance of drawing into something like SPAVIET.
>Ed_Martin: EILORSU 11A SOILURE +72 208
>Phil: ?AAPSTV 12C TAP +20 211
#note Second best play. CP prefers VAST E2 creating the A hook for the triple lane. Slightly too volatile for my liking with the J and Z unseen.
>Ed_Martin: ADEGNRT 12G DRAGNET +73 281
#note A bit of a kick in the teeth after SOILURE on the previous move.
>Phil: ?AASTVY N10 VASTY +48 259
#note Best. A straightforward choice.
>Ed_Martin: KNRU J6 KNUR +35 316
>Phil: ?ACFIIN 8J .NIFIC +36 295
#note Best. I was pleased with this play, which scored nicely and opened up some much needed (and later crucial) floaters.
>Ed_Martin: EGL 10E GEL +20 336
>Phil: ?ACEERX 13H EX +36 331
#note Best. Another easy choice.
>Ed_Martin: ?ELOSWY 14B YELlOWS +81 417
#note It wasn't looking too good after this.
>Phil: ?ACEERV 15A VERA +34 365
#note CP favours playing CREATIVE or REACTIVE, but at this point even these plays have less than a 10% chance of winning. I didn't see how they could possibly win the game and opted to stay within a bonus score, hoping to bonus later on when it could be critical to winning.
>Ed_Martin: AEHZ 15H HAZE +69 486
#note Ed told me after the game that he had the R at this point and not playing HAZER cost him the game. I felt for him, but then...
>Phil: ?CEEHIN O1 ElENCHI. +95 460
#note 91 to tie after Ed's just drawn the J at the death. He commented that he saw my play straight away and when I didn't play it quickly, he thought I wasn't going to spot it. It took me some time to work through the possibilities (as well as confirming my tracking was correct) to realise that it gave me a win by 4, in a game where I'd gained an extra 5 from the GOBAR challenge. Exhilirating for me and I won the next five on the bounce afterwards, but a heartbreaker for Ed.
