Probably because playing through the A means the I stays open a fair amount, but plays like BITT don't do well cause the A gets blocked more often, and I really want one of the vowels to stay open. Exchanging mostly guarantees one stays open, so I can keep CRT? and not feel bad about it. BRACT had the obv downside of him just having an S, and I can still afford to play a bit safely, but it also had upside of maybe inducing a block, so I went for it
