>David_Weisberg: AGKNOOT 8F GOOK +18 18
#note Sims almost dead even with placing it at 8G. Lacking an S, I opted to be conservative. It also hooks with Y.
>Joel_Horn: UV F6 VU. +15 15
>David_Weisberg: AINNNPT I5 NAP.IN +16 34
#note Tough turn. Sim likes 9G PIAN 26 by about 7 points over this. 9G INAPT 21 and 7E NUN 7 also come out slightly ahead of NAPKIN. Given that Joel played only two tiles (bad as they are), I might have gotten more defensive here. PIAN hooks with I, O, and S, so even this play isn't great for defense, but NAPKIN seems too reckless for the improved leave. Despite it coming 4.5 behind PIAN, I like INAPT as a compromise, which is very restrictive if Joel doesn't have scoring tiles for the triple at O8.
>Joel_Horn: AEGINR H1 REAGIN +31 46
#note Joel took a few minutes on this turn. After the game we discussed it. I had correctly guessed he had an E or an O, but I forget which one he said it was.
>David_Weisberg: AANOQTT 3G Q.T +23 57
>Joel_Horn: ?EINOSZ 1A SNoOZIE. +101 147
>David_Weisberg: AADLNOT H10 ATONAL +23 80
#note I couldn't remember if ANODAL was good. I was in a hurry to play in this spot and missed E1 ZONAL 28, which scores a bit more and opens the board in a way I might already need. It sims about 3 points better than ANODAL and 6 points better than ATONAL.
>Joel_Horn: DEIMM G10 MIMED +28 175
>David_Weisberg: BBCDOUY J6 BOY +42 122
#note I wasn't sure of NUBBY and might have played it had I been, but this is a lot of points. It sims about 10 points ahead of NUBBY.
>Joel_Horn: CEHTU K2 CHUTE +26 201
>David_Weisberg: ?BCDITU 11D CUB.. +18 140
#note Tunnel vision again. I didn't see 2K CUBIC for 22. The triple obviously gets blocked a lot but it could be difficult and costly to do so. Quackle also likes D1 OUTBID 18. It sims about a point behind CUBIC and 2.5 ahead of CUBIT. The pool is getting vowel-heavy though, which doesn't go well with keeping just C and blank. CUBIC is risky but maybe just enough to be worth it. I wasn't unhappy with my play though, as the C it opens goes well with DIT?.
>Joel_Horn: AAIR 2B ARIA +26 227
>David_Weisberg: ?ADDIRT D5 ReADDI.T +76 216
#note The only playable bingo
>Joel_Horn: LOR 8A LOR. +15 242
>David_Weisberg: ADEIOPW L3 OPA +25 241
#note This was a very difficult turn for me and I spent a few minutes. There are so many E's left that I want to shed mine, yet I can't really do so and keep the board as open as I want without keeping the W. My play simmed best for once, with 3A OWE 22 being about half a point behind. The similar-looking APO falters because of HAJ, presumably. I had thought about F13 POW for 21, but this kept the board closed and risked a glut of vowels. L3 OPE does burn the E but if I don't draw too many more, it has some synergy with D and W.
>Joel_Horn: ETY J10 YET +31 273
>David_Weisberg: DEFISVW K11 WIVED +36 277
>Joel_Horn: EINW 15K .WINE +39 312
>David_Weisberg: EEEFFLS L8 FLEES +36 313
#note Mssed 3A FEELS for 38. It sims about 4.5 points better and wins 5% more. Keeping EF for the L column next turn is great, though this did block TIX if he has an E himself.
>Joel_Horn: EHL 14J H.EL +22 334
>David_Weisberg: EFJRSSU M5 JUS +21 334
#note I was running pretty low on time by this point. I considered 13B JUS 32, but this doesn't block 8L FIXT 42, which I can't outrun. My play blocks this, but wins only about 44% of the time in simulation. M4 SURF 19 wins 66% of the time. It's not immediately clear to me why that is, but in any case, I didn't have the time to calculate it. It turned out that I drew the X.
>Joel_Horn: AEGIORT C7 A.EG +17 351
>David_Weisberg: EFRSX 13A REFS +26 360
#note Nothing wins here, but 9K FLEX for 15 forces him to find LIROT or TRIOL if he wants to go out first. Otherwise, OR or IT both score 15 and I can't quite overcome that. If he slips up and plays OR, I get M9 ERS for 12 but still lose by a point. Quite a frustrating game but I could have played it a bit better.
