#player2 Steve_Hartsman Steve Hartsman
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADGGJOO 8G JOG +22 22
#note November 2023 WGPO Madison Tournament. Game 14. This is why toggling back and forth between expunged and non-expunged lexicons is confusing. 8D GADJO for 32 is the play here. JOG is still pretty solid though.
>Steve_Hartsman: AAEEFNR - +0 0
#note Exchange 6. Not actual rack.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADEGORT 7H GAROTED +68 90
#note Best.
>Steve_Hartsman: ?DEEMNR 6G RENaMED +77 77
#note Very cool play! This blocked everything I was thinking about doing. There are a few double double that sim best including K4 ENDODERM and ENTODERM for 90 each.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAAGIRU -AAAGIU +0 90
#note I strongly considered JAGUAR, but nah.
>Steve_Hartsman: OUY 8M YOU +28 105
>Jonathan_Lindh: CEENNPR 5J CEP +33 123
#note PEN could be a bit better here.
>Steve_Hartsman: IN G8 .IN +11 116
>Jonathan_Lindh: AELNNRV 11G NAVEL +27 150
#note Seems fine.
>Steve_Hartsman: AEIRU 12C AUREI +22 138
>Jonathan_Lindh: DMNOORT 12J MONDO +22 172
#note Ok.
>Steve_Hartsman: AHI 13M AHI +23 161
>Jonathan_Lindh: FRRTTWY 13A FRY +28 200
#note C11 WARTY for 22? My play scores more and the F isn't that dangerous in the 6th position.
>Steve_Hartsman: IT A13 .IT +18 179
>Jonathan_Lindh: AIRTTWX J10 R..IX +32 232
#note I loved this play! It takes out big plays on the 14 row using the OH hook and sets up my two T's. Quackle likes this 2nd, C7 TAXIWAY for 29 is #1 by a narrow margin (roughly 1 point). I'm fine with REMIX.
>Steve_Hartsman: ACEHI E7 ACHIE. +22 201
#note When Steve played this, the Billy Ray Cyrus song Achy Breaky Heart immediately popped into my mind.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AAEQTTW I13 QAT +52 284
#note Best. I could have played the 15H version too.
>Steve_Hartsman: IL H14 LI +22 223
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEILLTW D2 WALLET +20 304
#note This play started my downfall this game. Nothing looked super appealing since D15 WALLET for 39 got blocked. It turns out WILLET in the same spot is best, which I saw the next day. WALLET is very close behind. When I played WALLET, I saw potential for Z bombs, but it's only one tile right?
>Steve_Hartsman: BEORTZ C1 REZ +51 274
#note Partial rack. Steve was going to play D3 BORTZ for 43, and then a REZ spot came up. I never caught his 7th tile.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EINSTUW 14L UNS +22 326
#note No clue what to do here. Score, break up UW and take out the big N14 spot? Seems as good as anything.
>Steve_Hartsman: FKO 5B FO.K +22 296
>Jonathan_Lindh: EIIOTUW -IIOUW +0 326
#note Horrible draw. Exchanging seems smart here, although you could make a case for trading 7 to dig at the S's and the blank.
>Steve_Hartsman: BES E1 BES +23 319
>Jonathan_Lindh: AABDEPT 6A BAD. +19 345
#note Figured I would block a low probability bingo line and preserve a balanced leave for PREMIX and possible bingoing opportunities. Quackle likes BADE 2nd only behind 9J PA for 21, which I don't get. I prefer BADE.
>Steve_Hartsman: ES F1 ES +17 336
#note Starting to get uneasy with Steve burning all of those S's. Does he have all of them? And does he have the blank?
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEOPTUV 9J PUT +22 367
#note Horrible situation. E1 is still a threat for bingos, but I also need to score so I don't get outrun. I can make a scoring play into BE, but that opens up 7's lanes. I thought there were a lot more 7's he could have than 9's. I also wasn't sure of how far deep Steve knows the 9's.I considered 1E BEEP for 24, but I thought that gave him all sorts of 7's he wouldn't otherwise have (which it does). I also assumed the W would be in the bag because Steve has been grooming his rack. The W was not in the bag, just vowels. BEEP is the best play and I think it wins in this case, even though it potentially gives up a lot more bingos. PUT is tied for 3rd. 1E BEAUT is 2nd which I also don't understand. There are only 4 9's Steve can have, BEMISTING, BESNOWING, BESOTTING, and BESTOWING. What a really hard position!
>Steve_Hartsman: ?GINSTW 1E ..SToWING +95 431
#note Steve had BESTOWING. Great find by him. Maybe Quackle likes BEEP better because it gets outrun less despite giving up more bingo? Even after BEEP, I still may lose because of how bad my letters are. I don't know. Still trying to understand this position. If Steve can find BESTOWING for 95 and out, he deserved to win this game.
