>Ed_Roth: MY 8H MY +14 14
>ken_Rubin: IIKNNOW 7I OINK +15 15
#note I was disappointed in myself for not making a better play here. I7 OINK is actually pretty bad. It gives a lot back with a potential parallel play through the I and double-double line through the N and the triple through the K. All that to only score 15 points and leave INW. Quackle prefers G9 ION (WINK) for 14 points by a long shot, primarily because it's much more defensive. There were a bunch of other plays that were better than OINK, including 9F INION (KW) and 9E KIWI/WIKI (NNO). Very bad!
>Ed_Roth: CDEIORT K5 CE.TROID +94 108
>ken_Rubin: INOSTWZ 10J Z.ON +33 48
#note Quackle says 10J ZOO (INSTW) for 32 points is 3-4 equity points better than 10J ZOON (ISTW) for 33 points. This may be due to a combination of better bingo chance next turn with INSTW and the ability to hook an N onto ZOO and play vertically on my next turn. I realize holding the S doesn't factor in much because I already have OINKS and CENTROIDS if I need it. Actually Quackle says J9 OWT (INSZ) for 31 points is best. I think this is because I'm set up to score well next turn with the Z. At a minimum, I have ZINS/SOY at F6 for 39 points. I might also be able to make something happen with 11L TIZ (and play down) or OINKS and play down. This is a good reminder to not always immediately play the high scoring tile (e.g. Z, J,Q,X).

>Ed_Roth: ALNP 11H PLA.N +20 211
>ken_Rubin: DEEEIST 12K .EE +14 105
#note Another good option is 01 EIDE (EST) for 21 points. The plays scores points, opens the top part of the board, and prevents Ed from scoring with the triple on one of his next two turns (I am hoping to bingo elsewhere on my next turn--leaving the triple untouched by me for at least two turns, if I play DEE). And my chances to bingo next turn are actually not much higher keeping DEIST than EST -- Quackle says 52% versus 40%.

#note Also 01 CUBER (EO) for 44 points. Both are good options.

>Ed_Roth: AINOSV 4C .VASION +22 354
>ken_Rubin: ?AFGLNQ H1 GAN.F +27 318
#note This was the key play in the game, and I think one of my better plays in the tournament. What I liked about GANOF (LQ?) is that it scores well and sets me up to score next turn with F2 QUA for 32 points, F4 SUQ for 32 points, A9 QIS for 35 points, or F2 QIS for 32 points, if I draw an I or U--which has an 88.46% chance of happening. Then with the score close and holding the ?, I figured I would have a decent chance in the endgame.

Unexpectedly, Ed challenged GANOF and lost his turn. That led to a discussion after the game of all the different ways to spell the word -- GANOF, GANEF, GONOF, GANEV, GONIF, GONIFF, GONOPH.
