#note a cool idea I didnt consider is VITI(A)TE for 14, leaving 4 in the bag. It basically reaches for the X and blank, and usually outruns x bombs by leaving enough spots open. The problem is that he can hit LEX and then I have to defend against bingoes, but often I can have some play that blocks well enough while outscoring. TILE is nice to leave 7 in the bag, so I often outrun bingoes as long as I draw enough vowels, and blocks the X bomb so that next turn I can focus all my efforts on blocking, sacrificing as much as I need. The worry with VITIATE is tha tI won't be able to sacrifice too much to block after an X bomb cause I will be in danger of being outrun. I considered VI(E) as well which blocks basically all bingoes immediately, but it can get into danger if he hits the X immediately. I think VITIATE or TILE is the play here

#note Really tough turn here. I can do something like VID or VOID or VIDS at 14J, VIDS at O7, or a blocking play like VELDS or VELDTS. FOE can mean a few things - he could be fucked (like he was), just keeping vowels and trying something desperately, he could just be doing a standard opening play, keeping something like DEIST or DEEI?, or he could be fishing for something on the 14 row, something like EXISTED. Although he likely doesn't have the X cause he would try to score enough with the X to win easily with a bingo when he hits, he could be fishing for something like EXISTED with DEIST, etc, hoping for the X draw. For that reason I liked taking out the bottom lane a big, since there are a lot more hard hitting words there than on the O column. VID can lose more because he draws two tiles after a bingo, which will score more. If I play on the bottom row it has to be VIDS I think, which actually outruns O column bingoes a ton. After tons of X bingoes he could have, I can get GITANO with or without a blank on the 14 row, which will just outrun X bingoes. Except ANTISEX, which I would lose to after VIDS, plus a few other X bingoes where I don't draw gitano. If he bingoes without the X, I will outrun if I draw the X with LOX 1F or if I don't draw the X with just any random parallel. VELDS or VELDTS just go all in on the block - he can still have occasional bingoes on the 14 row, around 10% of the time. A sim confirms VELDTS actually blocks more than VELDS, but I can outrun quite often after VELDS since I don't empty the bag, so it's certainly better. I think VELDS is likely the best play here, since he has to bingo and I have to not draw the X, whereas VIDS he just has to hit a massive X bingo (ANTISEX with a blank in any spot, or natural), or another X bingo and squeak it out.
