Player 1
#player1 Andy_Hoang Andy Hoang
#player2 Jonathan_Lindh Jonathan Lindh
>Andy_Hoang: AIJ 8H AJI +20 20
#note 2023 Word Cup Main Event Round 30. Andy was the only player who I hadn't played so far in the main event so I was glad to have a full round robin.
>Jonathan_Lindh: DFOOSUV K3 VODOUS +31 31
#note Best.
>Andy_Hoang: AGINOOS - +0 20
#note Exchange 7. Not actual rack.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AADFGPS L4 FAD +30 61
#note Best.
>Andy_Hoang: BEE M5 BEE +16 36
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEGPSUY 8M PAY +32 93
#note Seems fine.
>Andy_Hoang: EVW N7 W.VE +17 53
>Jonathan_Lindh: CEEGOSU 9G EGO +19 112
#note Best.
>Andy_Hoang: EMW 10G MEW +29 82
>Jonathan_Lindh: CEIISUU -IIUU +0 112
#note This was not the draw I was looking for. My decision was between keeping CES and keeping CEIS. I kept CEIS. In theory I was correct, but I wish I kept CEIS.
>Andy_Hoang: ADEORST 11F TORSADE +90 172
#note Nice find by Andy! This is best.
>Jonathan_Lindh: CEEKRST 12L RECK +34 146
#note Best. If I kept CEIS, I gets RICKETS and its' anagrams. Now I just get a 34 point play.
>Andy_Hoang: EHIRS O10 HI.ERS +44 216
#note At least Andy had to burn bingo prone tiles to make this play.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EFMOSTX 13L EX +39 185
>Andy_Hoang: INP 15L PIN. +9 225
>Jonathan_Lindh: IMORSTT 12C TRIO +10 195
#note Ooh 8E ROMAJIS for 24! That's a cool play.
>Andy_Hoang: IIT C10 TI.I +8 233
>Jonathan_Lindh: MNNSTUZ - +0 195
#note Exchange 5, keeping ST.
>Andy_Hoang: FNOT 13E FONT +16 249
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?AELNST D4 SLAiNTE +66 261
#note Whoops, i did not see 14E SLAINTE for 75 with the overlaps. That's probably the play. First real mistake of the game.
>Andy_Hoang: ELZ 6B ZE.L +33 282
>Jonathan_Lindh: BCEHMUY C6 .MU +16 277
#note Searched forever on this game. Did not 8A HYMN for 36 and dismissed 5C BLECH for 32. Either of those two plays would have improved my winning chances quite a bit here. More of a mistake than SLAINTE probably.
>Andy_Hoang: LNR J10 L.RN +17 299
>Jonathan_Lindh: BCEGHUY H13 .HY +27 304
#note G7 CHEMO for 30 is hard to spot.
>Andy_Hoang: ADN 5D .AND +14 313
#note Another very ominous setup play by my opponents.
>Jonathan_Lindh: BCEGIIU 4G ICE +11 315
#note At this point, Andy almost certainly has to have the blank. I block the best I can.
>Andy_Hoang: NO 14F NO. +16 329
>Jonathan_Lindh: AABGIQU B13 QUA +35 350
#note I thought I was cruising to victory after QUA but Andy would have a surprise for me. Interestingly enough, Quackle has B6 ZAG for 21 as a 100% win. I'm not sure I 100% buy that but it seems plausible. My play is 2nd at a 91.67% win %.
>Andy_Hoang: ?ILORTU H1 URI. +18 347
#note Andy had one of the racks that win 100% of the time. B2 GLITZ/BLITZ are apparently 2 more.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AABGGI B9 GAB +17 367
#note I had Andy mistracked as having OOE? and not LOT?. B3 BAIZA for 20 is best here. None of us saw that play post-mortem. If I play BAIZA, Andy needs to see C1 ToOL in order to win. He had plenty of time so I have no doubt he would have seen ToOL. GAB does not win at all, but then again I thought Andy had OOE?.
>Andy_Hoang: ?LOT B2 pLOT. +26 373
#note Best. 15A TAXOL, 15A TAXON for 15 each and A10 LOT for 13 are Andy's only wins. N2 LOTs for 12 actually ties.
>Andy_Hoang: (AGI) +8 381
#note Final score recorded as 380-367 Andy. Andy underscored WAVE by a point. This game was potentially winnable for me, but it was going to be a very hard win for me. I think both of us played fairly well given we were on Game 30.
