>Seth_Lipkin: AD 8G DA +6 6
#note 2023 Word Cup Main Event Round 8. Here is the choke game.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADFGHSS I6 FAGS +15 15
#note Did this play over the other to super-complicate the position for Seth. He seemed close to a bingo.
>Seth_Lipkin: MO 9G OM. +14 20
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADEHORS 7H H. +13 28
>Seth_Lipkin: ?AGINTV 10B VINTAGe +83 103
#note Best bingo.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ADEORSW J1 REDOWAS +78 106
#note Only bingo.
>Seth_Lipkin: CDRRU 2F CURR.D +15 118
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEEOOTY H1 T.OY +33 139
#note 1H AERO for 23 keeps a lot better leave.
>Seth_Lipkin: NOR K4 NOR +24 142
>Jonathan_Lindh: ABEEOQX C9 Q. +21 160
>Seth_Lipkin: EJLL 4D JELL. +30 172
>Jonathan_Lindh: ABEEEOX 5C BOX +51 211
#note Best.
>Seth_Lipkin: AEINV 1J .AVINE +42 214
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEEEHNT 6A THAE +29 240
#note Too many T's unseen so I stick one on. I almost played a phony on column L.
>Seth_Lipkin: ACIIR A4 IA.RIC +27 241
>Jonathan_Lindh: EEEEMNO L3 NEEM +33 273
#note Best.
>Seth_Lipkin: ALTUY B10 .AULTY +24 265
>Jonathan_Lindh: BEEIOOP 15A P.E +24 297
#note Everything was going great until this play. I was originally going to play E7 BOOTIE but didn't spot BIOTOPE in the same spot. I then decided I couldn't leave row 15 alone. OYEZ is a real possibility on a 5 tile draw, but if Seth had the Z, why not hold the Y back? VAULT isn't that easy to overlap. Finally if I am playing on row 15, play BYE instead of PYE, but I was wedded to playing BOOTIE the next turn.
>Seth_Lipkin: DEORTU E8 TU.ORED +16 281
#note This is why being wedded to BOOTIE was stupid. Seth was most likely going to play there. Keep the P, not the B.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?BEILOO D12 OBE +21 318
#note I knew I screwed up when I drew into this rack. If I just played my B instead of my P, I would have had EOLOPILE, and the talk of round 8 would have been my cool bingo. Instead this is a no go, and I slap this down. Why not OBI instead? I have no clue.
>Seth_Lipkin: EEISSTW N1 .EWSIEST +76 357
#note Now Seth blocks EPILOgUE with a bingo and I'm in full blown panic mode.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?EILOPU 8L PI. +8 326
#note See EPILOGUE which got blocked. Completely whiff on EUPLOID which probably clinches the game on the spot (98.48%). However, I did make a content play that wins some of the time. 8L OUT for 4 is a variant of the same idea.
>Seth_Lipkin: AZ 9K ZA +15 372
#note Seth said he mistracked here.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?EFLNOU K9 .EN +24 350
#note To make matters worse, I miss sULFONE, a word I have had problems seeing. It plays at O8 for 95 and 11H for 76. There are no other wins. I play K9 ZEN for 24 to set up PITA/AFOUL and FOULS as my outs thinking Seth has GIIINO as his rack. ZEN does seem to be the best non-bingo play in my defense.
>Seth_Lipkin: GIIIKN 10K .KING +21 393
#note I realize to my horror Seth had GIIIKN and not GIIINO and he comes up with one of his 3 winning plays. 10J GENII for 17 and 11J INKING for 11 also work. Nice Job by Seth to find one of his wins under time pressure.
>Jonathan_Lindh: ?FLOU 13D ..FOULs +13 363
#note Going out isn't best here. Play O6 PITY for 37 and get some spread. Game is still lost, but if we play optimally i only lose by 3, 402-399. I was disgusted with myself.
>Jonathan_Lindh: (II) +4 367
#note Final score recorded as 393-367. Seth underscored 1-2 things by 3 points. If we had played the endgame after EKING optimally, the game would have initially been a tie! Would we have recounted?
