#player1 Edwin_Roth Edwin Roth
#player2 Jonathan_Lindh Jonathan Lindh
>Edwin_Roth: AAJNRVW - +0 0
#note 2023 Word Cup Main Event Round 15. Exchange 3. Not actual rack.
>Jonathan_Lindh: DEEOPRZ 8F PREZ +30 30
#note Whoops. Normally, I thought I would play DOZER to start off, but switched it after Ed's last play to minimize comebacks. However, I completely missed 8D ZEROED for 52. That's too many points to pass up.
>Edwin_Roth: AH 9H HA +23 23
>Jonathan_Lindh: DEILNOS G6 LO. +4 34
#note Now INDOLES doesn't fit.
>Edwin_Roth: ADQSU J9 SQUAD +41 64
>Jonathan_Lindh: BDEEINS 6F B.IND +18 52
#note Still no bingo. I strongly considered 14F BIDES for 34, but that seemed too dangerous even for me.
>Edwin_Roth: AIV 5D VIA +16 80
>Jonathan_Lindh: EEEGORS D2 GRO.E +18 70
#note Again, not doing 14F OGEES for 28 for the same reasons I passed on BIDES.
>Edwin_Roth: AEEIR 5I AERIE +15 95
>Jonathan_Lindh: CEEFHSW 14F CHEFS +39 109
#note Blowing up the rack is okl here, but find 14I ESCHEW for 50.
>Edwin_Roth: ?EGINRV - +0 95
#note Exchange 4. Not actual rack.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEGTTTW 4J WATT +29 138
#note H11 TWEET for 36 is best here even after an exchange. I remember quickly playing WATT. TWEET simply scores too much and there are plenty of E's left.
>Edwin_Roth: DTU H12 DU.T +21 116
>Jonathan_Lindh: EGKLNTT 11I G.NK +18 156
#note I liked this play to defend against column K overlaps but Quackle really likes 7B KELT for 19 here.
>Edwin_Roth: ??ENRTU L7 TURN.Eys +72 188
#note M7 UNRESTS for 73 is the highest scoring bingo, but this is perfectly fine and probably more defensive than UNRESTS. Nice play! The Championship Player likes M8 NUTSIER for 71 by a very small margin.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EIILSTT M7 IT +8 164
#note This is actually best.
>Edwin_Roth: ABEIIIM - +0 188
#note Trade 7. Not actual rack.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EILLOST - +0 164
#note Really frustrating I can't bingo here. Exchange 2. I threw back LO because every place I saw for LO gave Ed huge comebacks or blocked the board.
>Edwin_Roth: AY M10 AY +20 208
#note Now Ed wisely blocks SEXTILE.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EEILSTX N8 EX +12 176
#note Probably F8 PIX for 28, but I figured I could make a setup here. I didn't think Ed has the last S and I was right.
>Edwin_Roth: R 5I .....R +6 214
#note Ed did not have the last S.
>Jonathan_Lindh: EIILSST 12G I. +3 179
#note I don't why I didn't cash in an S for O8 SI for 27. That seems really obvious in hindsight.
>Edwin_Roth: GIMY 3C G.IMY +30 244
>Jonathan_Lindh: EILSSTV K3 V.. +6 185
#note O6 VIS for 30. Complete tunnel vision at this point.
>Edwin_Roth: OOP 9D POO +9 253
>Jonathan_Lindh: EILSSTW 11A WITLESS +72 257
#note Finally hit my bingo. I am back in this game.
>Edwin_Roth: ENO A8 ENO. +21 274
>Jonathan_Lindh: BCIJLNO B10 N.COL +22 279
#note I make a really out of the box play here. Most people would immediately cash the J here, but that isn't right. The spot you need to address is B10, because is Ed hits an F or an M play there, it's game over. It's unlikely, however, Ed will be able to hit me for more than 30 on the NICOL overlaps. As an added bonus, this play sets up three letter J plays to the triple for a ton and gets rid of the C which is clunky on this board. Quackle completely agrees and has this play best by 7% win percentage. This may have been my best play of the tournament.
>Edwin_Roth: EINRU O9 URINE +15 289
#note Ed was also very low on time, so it was going to be very hard for him to properly counter NICOL, a fact that I also factored into making that play.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AABEIJL A13 JAB +47 326
#note Knock out punch. Quackle somehow finds 2F ABLE for 21 keeping AJI. I don't think I would have the stones to make that play.
>Edwin_Roth: ADEFMOO D9 .E.F +18 307
#note 2F MADE for 30 is best here for Ed, even though he has no wins.
>Jonathan_Lindh: AEIL C11 .AE +34 360
#note Best.
>Edwin_Roth: ADMOO 2F MOOD +30 337
#note Best along with 2F MOD for 29.
>Jonathan_Lindh: IL 1H LI +15 375
#note Best.
>Jonathan_Lindh: (A) +2 377
#note Score recorded as 377-327 because Ed went a few seconds over. I didn't play this game that well, but NICOL was such a beautiful play it bailed me out.
