#player1 Richard_Popper Richard Popper
#player2 Samuel_Kaplan Samuel Kaplan
>Richard_Popper: ADDERUU -DUU +0 0
#note Not actual rack. Richard exchanged 3 tiles here.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DFGNRST -DFGN +0 0
#note All I had to do was win the game knowing that I was 5-1 and so were 2 others, but I had the highest spread among the 3 of us. So I figured that I should play this pretty standard and have a way of countering his likely bingo next turn as best as possible.
>Richard_Popper: ADEGHPR -HP +0 0
#note Not actual rack. Richard exchanged 2 tiles this time.
>Samuel_Kaplan: DGNRRST -DGNR +0 0
#note And that's the 2nd time in as many games that I end up with the same or an extremely similar rack 2 turns in a row (see the AADEOST position in Rd 2 against Jay Levin)! Not sure if I should have done GRR. I see why Quackle likes it along with my play just because he's close to a bingo, but I do much prefer open boards against Richard. Thoughts?
>Richard_Popper: ER 8G RE +4 4
#note And that kills the 6-pass.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABDDRST F6 BRAD +16 16
>Richard_Popper: AEEINRT E7 ARENITE +73 77
#note Yea, knew this was gonna happen. Nice fit. It's the start of an unprecedented onslaught.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ADPPSTT 13A TAPP.D +22 38
#note UGH TOO MANY CONSONANTS! Looks fine.
>Richard_Popper: ?AEFLNT 11E .NFLATEd +70 147
#note A6 ANTiLEF(T) is the move here for 92. Still not what I needed to see.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEILOST 12H ISOLATE +77 115
#note It's a nice fit, and this was purposely chosen over the 14D placement. The sim agrees. Richard will take Row 15 all the time after it's possible he could have drawn the X or some other compatible scoring tile. This was misscored as 76.
>Richard_Popper: ADEIMOU O6 MIAOUED +97 244
#note Are you serious
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABIOSTW 13L BOW +29 144
#note H1 BIOWAST(E) gets me right back in this one!! Although Richard kept scoring so it was gonna be rough no matter what.
>Richard_Popper: DEKN B10 KNE.D +40 284
>Samuel_Kaplan: AHIISTU N5 UH +28 172
#note I did not know N2 SAITH, but this isn't too much worse.
>Richard_Popper: OOX A8 OXO +36 320
#note Come on lol
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEIISTV A13 .AV +21 193
#note Not doing C8 VIA at this score Quackle!
>Richard_Popper: GUV D7 VUG +25 345
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEIIQST 14J QIS +37 230
#note It was this point in the game where I needed the other 5-1 person to be losing his game, because I started cutting spread in this one.
>Richard_Popper: EFIN 15H NEIF +37 382
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACEEINT D12 E.IC +26 256
>Richard_Popper: ISWY 7H YWIS +19 401
#note As predicted, he would be committed to shutting down lanes.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEHNOT 6H AAH +38 294
#note Looks good for spread cutting again.
>Richard_Popper: GMY 5J GYM +25 426
>Samuel_Kaplan: EINOOTZ L2 ZOO. +30 324
#note Not much of an alternative but to have to open the top right now.
>Richard_Popper: ?CEORRU B2 COURtER +68 494
#note REOcCUR is 80, but this gets the job done for him. I guess missing BIOWASTE was just a loss of spread because he never stopped scoring. I'm not sure this game was really winnable after all.
Sometimes I'm the dog and sometimes I'm the hydrant. I'm the hydrant in Round 7.
>Samuel_Kaplan: EGIJNNT 3I JET.N +40 364
#note Yep. I did this instead of 2L (Z)ING to make sure I can go out next turn and because he will block 3I JET(O)N.
>Richard_Popper: EILLRST 2L .ILL +28 522
#note 2J TI(Z)ES is 12 more.
>Samuel_Kaplan: GIN 5B .ING +10 374
#note Best out play. Great game Richard! Final score was recorded as 522-381.

3rd of 8 and my rating shoots up to 1681.
