>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ?AGKORS H6 GROK +18 18
#note wasn't totally sure something like GASROCK wasn't a word
>Jackson: CDEFGMT -CFGMT +0 0
#note CDE looks better here, along with CDET, DET.
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ??ADLMS 10B MiLADiS +78 96
#note these floaters are so totally not good enough for me to be up 96-0. The insane luck continues through to the finals.
>Jackson: BDEIINO D8 BO.IDE +24 24
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: AHNQTTT E7 QAN.T +38 134
>Jackson: GIINRVW 13B VI.W +20 44
#note typically VIEWING is fine, but prefer the bingo % in this position. VIG is also okay here, despite being anti-thematic. VIEW wins a sim by a bit. All four plays are decent. WIVE is tempting cause plays through the W give back a high scoring lane, but it overall benefits him to have a nice 30+ point play
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: FHITTYZ F6 ZIT +48 182
#note stupid that this is the position after just 3 moves
>Jackson: GINRRTU 8H .UTRING +9 53
#note lets go
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: EEFHOTY N6 FO.EY +28 210
#note Definitely felt something was through that R, but just couldn't get the neurons to converge onto THE(R)EOF. FO(G)EY does threaten to block the hugest plays next turn, but forks the board on the O-column if no S is played. This doesn't seem right, even without THEREOF. But I figured I didn't deserve to make the best play. OF 9N was also considered, which I definitely like more than FOGEY.
>Jackson: AEFINNR K5 REF.AIN +40 93
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: DEEEHTU O4 HUED +20 230
#note this only reduces his score immediately by 8 points, demonstrating the weaknesses of FO(G)EY. Still, attempting to block both openings in two or three moves seems right here.
>Jackson: ACIILNO N1 CIAO +17 110
#note this wins a sim, though that barely matters. OILCAN is reasonable, just trying to get close to one bingo range. I liked CIAO because it can force a low scoring block, since the C is hard to play through, and I keep the high scoring O column open, can hit the X, etc. I think it's this or OILCAN
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: EEEENRT 1K ERE.T +24 254
>Jackson: AGILNSX J8 .AX +53 163
#note worth it over TAXING for the bingo %
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: BDEELNW J2 BEDEW +40 294
#note the best play here is the beautiful BE(TAX)ED for 40, keeping the W to score and not opening an E to play through. BLEW might also be better
>Jackson: GILMNSS 3E GLIMN.SS +63 226
#note its now or never - intentional phony
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: ALLNNRY O9 RALLY +16 310
#note just with BRANG*, I was about ready to snap challenge, and the longer I took, the less I felt I should challenge. This is a huge mistake, but I still figured my best chances were holding on from this position. But I missed AR(M)Y for 39, which is too many to say no to. There is very limited risk of 7 consonants next turn being pivotal enough to lose the game, and also very minimal chance of not drawing a vowel, given the 15/10 vowel/consonant ratio. Something like 10-15%? I just missed AR(M)Y, but worse, I made this play with absolutely no clue about RALLYE, a word I know. I never saw RALLYE. This was Jackson's game to come back and win. Incredibly good pressure by him, picking at my confidence levels more and more every turn. #knowledgesaddest #visionsaddest #strategysaddest #findingsaddest
>Jackson: CEIIOPV H1 CO.P +39 265
#note figured he was not seeing the E hook on RALLY, or didnt know it. I was not positive it wasn't sticky S (rallyes), but was ofc gonna play it if necessary. H1 VIM is fairly strong to go more immediately for bingoes, but I preferred COMP to get more in 1 bingo range for the surprise attack later on, plus the C can be a useful lane to fish to later.
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: AAENNOU 11J A.OA +15 325
#note almost played ANNO(Y), which would have blocked RALLYE unwittingly. I wanted to block REFRAINS stuff, which is obviously far less of a factor given RALLYE. I thought this did a good job outrunning 14E plays. I could play EAU at L11 to also block the dangerous REFRAINS hook as well as scoring plays to the Y, but I was more worried about getting outrun from 53 ahead instead of 62 ahead, and that would allow Jackson time to play something on the N column like OE maybe, since EAU protects that sort of opening. #visionsaddest for RALLYE again.
>Jackson: EIIOOTV E1 VO.IE +18 283
#note nothing else really seems to win consistently, specific fishes don't even win, so gotta go for a RALLYE bingo. OI does not hit any RALLYE bingoes
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: EHNNSTU C9 H.N +22 347
#note and the draw from the variance gods to seemingly seal the deal. But this still loses to OPERATE 1/3 times, as long as Jackson draws the J. It wins if I draw JI, and ties(!) if I draw JU, since Jackson has a big out with 6F (Z)I(G)
>Jackson: EIJORTU 2D J. +9 292
#note hits routine, stourie. only problem is that his typical plays will outrun or block - SPEE(L) beats ROUTINE by 7, and stuff like PEATY/PUNTY blocks STOURIE - maaybe PEA(L) is something he could play. anyways, gotta try it
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: EENPSTU 12K SPEE. +35 382
>Jackson: AEIORTU D4 OAT +12 304
#note should be OAR to save ETUI. also should play RALLYE here for the mind blown play
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: NTU L3 .UN +9 391
#note somehow just figured he had blocked all my outs... what a terrible display
>Jackson: EIRU 2D ..E +16 320
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: T 5I T... +4 395
>Josh_Sokol-Rubenstein: (IRU) +6 401
#note smh, what a horrendous way to win a tournament. Embarrassment of riches. Kudos to Jackson for not flipping the board, or the bird, or anything in between.
