>Max_Panitch: IIIIIII -IIII +0 0
>Arie_Sinke: DEEHRTT 8G TETH +14 14
#note I tend to be very wary of short opening moves (less so against stronger opponents than weaker ones) but this wins the sim by a substantial margin over options like TEETH and TETHER, as well as ETH. I bingo a lot with DER and counterplays that score well are more difficult for Max after TETH.
>Max_Panitch: IQ 7F QI +15 15
>Arie_Sinke: ADEFORT J6 FO. +17 31
#note Disappointed that FOREDATE got blocked (the other weaker placement of QI would have left it). This is very fishy but I obviously have to do it.
>Max_Panitch: EHPS K5 HEPS +35 50
>Arie_Sinke: ADEEIRT L4 AIDE +27 58
#note This wins the sim. It is the optimal compromise between score and leave.
>Max_Panitch: DUW M2 WUD +17 67
>Arie_Sinke: DEGIIRT 2M .IG +14 72
#note Another optimal play. I'm getting a little frustrated that my rack balancing plays aren't yielding bingos on a closed board, but I just have to play the long game here.
>Max_Panitch: CIN F4 CIN. +17 84
>Arie_Sinke: DEEIIRT 4D DI.TIER +22 94
#note After severeal consecutive unsuccessful fishes, I just couldn't find it in me to stick with my failed strategy. I had an inkling that DIE M7 might be a better play, and Quackle says that it is (a number of lower scoring fishing plays are comparable or slightly better than my play, but DIE wins the sim by 6 points.) DICTIER is a vey human play, but not something that a computer would ever do. It's very hard to train yourself to evaluate game situations with total objectivity and not let previous turns cloud your thinking. I also think that DICTIER may be better than Quackle realizes - Max knows by know that my rack is bingo proned and is unlikely to create any new openings.
>Max_Panitch: AB 1N BA +25 109
>Arie_Sinke: ADEELNY 3H LYE +23 117
#note Max's play blocked AGEDLY (a word which I knew to be good despite somewhat shaky knowledge of six letter adverbs.) LYE looks best.
>Max_Panitch: ?CEJLOS 9A CaJOLES +78 187
>Arie_Sinke: ADEINOS A6 DIO.ESAN +86 203
#note Only bingo.
>Max_Panitch: MV E3 V.M +24 211
>Arie_Sinke: AANOORT B2 RATOON +23 226
#note Looks best; giving up points isn't worth it here.
>Max_Panitch: ELNORSU 12A .LEURONS +68 279
>Arie_Sinke: AEFLNPX 10D FAX +61 287
#note Best.
>Max_Panitch: ATV A1 VAT +22 301
>Arie_Sinke: ELNOPRR C1 REP +23 310
#note This is an uninspiring play, but nothing else scores well, so it wins a sim. Quackle suggests PER in the same spot for 4 fewer points is about equally good - perhaps I am favored to hit 1C first with my leave? I would never consider PER.
>Max_Panitch: ?AEMNOY 11H ANYMOrE +74 375
>Arie_Sinke: ABILNOR 10J BOLAR +39 349
#note I had no ideas for how to steal the win, and decided that my best bet was to score as many points as possible and hope to somehow get lucky with the Z. If Max is saddled with UU and I get something like RAZING I may be able to steal a win. Quackle suggests ROB or LOB in the same spot by a razor thin margin in terms of win percent, likely because I set up bingos with the E hook. Given that Max will probably respond defensively to such a play I am skeptical that those plays will work very often.
>Max_Panitch: EEGRW 1C .EGREW +33 408
>Arie_Sinke: AGIKNUZ C11 Z.K +32 381
#note Best.
>Max_Panitch: ITU L10 ..UT +8 416
>Arie_Sinke: AGINU N10 ..GAIN +14 395
#note Missed GArNI M9 for 20, which is a 4 point improvement.
>Max_Panitch: I E9 ..I. +8 424
>Max_Panitch: (U) +2 426
