#note I dunno, is ARGH better than this? Quackle thinks so, by a couple of points. 4 years later and my instinct was to play through this rack #questionable
>Karl_Higby: BEW 8G WEB +16 16
>Joshua_Sokol: AAADHRW 7G AWA +24 24
#note never thought of AHA, which bingos just about as much as AWA next turn, but is far more scoring-restrictive for Karl, as there are no vowels that can re-overlap HE. AWARD does a bit better than AWA as well, and I had definitely considered it. #findingsmall
>Karl_Higby: IIII -IIII +0 16
>Joshua_Sokol: ?AADEHR 6D cHARADE +82 106
#note I think I thought and considered RAgHEAD, which scores 2 more. This is way better on defense, particular after a medium-sized exchange (more balanced rack than average). Still would be interesting to have a metric to estimate how values, especially average bingo %, scale when racks are worse than average or better than average.
>Karl_Higby: INORS K2 NORIS +21 37
>Joshua_Sokol: ?ABDFTY 4J D.AFTY +34 140
>Karl_Higby: HKO O1 HOK. +42 79
#note so tragically bad
>Joshua_Sokol: ?BEGJNT 2N J. +18 158
#note the only thing that would make up for the phony 4 would be to extend it to HOKYPOKY (which is obviously why I didn't just insta-challenge, why is that good but not HOKY*)

Quackle much prefers JE(O)N 3I due to defense. Makes sense. (O)BE even does significantly better than my fish. #strategysmall and #knowledgesaddest for last move having scored 42 and not 0.
>Karl_Higby: EOZ 3J O.ZE +50 129
#note hence defense

#note Or FACET #questionable
>Karl_Higby: IIII -IIII +0 157
>Joshua_Sokol: CIIIOSU -IIIU +0 275
#note what a lovely balancing beam you have there. But Quackle thinks you should just wing it rather than tightrope walking. Keeping S is best with a random tile pool. Though Karl just threw 4 baddies into said pool, so it is worse than average. It would be cool to have a metric to sc--- yes I know you heard me the first time #questionable
>Karl_Higby: AEORTUV 14A RANDILY +89 246
>Karl_Higby: AEORTUV -- -89 157
>Joshua_Sokol: CEIOPSV 13B VI. +12 287
#note took me literal years to challenge RANDILY* off the board

I think Karl did his classic "so, 89" fakeout when we came back. If not, substitute this comment for the time he did it in another game we played. It still gets me for a second. That guy knows how to pull at your stress strings in all the best ways.

Quackle thinks I should play VIC(E) 13A and that Karl's response is DYN(E) F1. I wonder what it thinks I play next turn. #questionable
>Karl_Higby: ADILNRY F1 DYN. +33 190
>Joshua_Sokol: CDEEOPS 14D DOC +25 312
#note tons of options. This makes it hard to open space on the bottom of the board, pre-emptively unforking plays through the V in VIE by removing the opening on the 15th row it would otherwise make. This also blocks the marginal F column. But this also prevents a lot of E-column overlaps that block the F column and the 11 and 12 row. I think this is better than (D)OPE or (D)OPED or DECO in the same spot because it accomplishes something. I can't believe DECO is even on Quackle's radar.
>Karl_Higby: AILR - +0 190
#note I think Karl challenged FACETED. Always challenge every word in a play.
