>Arie_Sinke: AILLNOT 8G LANITOL +66 66
#note After Lake George, I told myself I wasn't going to talk myself out of playing any words I wasn't sure of against lower rated players. When I saw this rack, my first impulse was to exchange the L, which is without doubt the right choice. However, I saw LANITOL, and although I was pretty sure it was only LANITAL, I convinced myself that there might be some sort of oily substance called lanitol in wool or something. Not wanting to chicken out of a potentially good word, I decided to play it despite being very unsure of it, and by midgame I was pretty much convinced that it was good. If it gets challenged off I could get the tiles for ANTIROLL or ILLATION or STALLION.
>Steve_Anstandig: IQ 7J QI +24 24
>Arie_Sinke: DEEEEOS 9G ODES +28 94
#note This wins the sim over exchanging only by a small margin.
>Steve_Anstandig: ANNO 10D NANO +9 33
>Arie_Sinke: AEEEOPV D8 VE.AE +24 118
#note This is probably fine; I like it better than PEEVE, which leaves the unappealing AO.
>Steve_Anstandig: DEIR 8A DRI.E +27 60
>Arie_Sinke: ENNOOPU 11F UNOPEN +22 140
#note NONUPLE M3 plays the same tiles for four more points; it looks like a slightly better play (not four points better because it creates a lot of easily exploitable openings.)
>Steve_Anstandig: AFG 12J FAG +21 81
>Arie_Sinke: BGGIIOT E3 BIGGI. +20 160
#note This looks a bit better than BIOG and BIGOT at 13K; no need to create opening on column O here.
>Steve_Anstandig: KUU B6 KU.U +18 99
>Arie_Sinke: ?AEOTUW K2 OUTWA.. +20 180
#note This optimizes score and leave well, no bingos available here.
>Steve_Anstandig: ADIY M5 DAI.Y +14 113
>Arie_Sinke: ?AEERSS N2 RESEAtS +82 262
#note LANITOLS is phoney, but at this point, I had been staring at LANITOL for so long that it had begun to look acceptable. Several 75 point bingos are available at N1.
>Steve_Anstandig: HT C7 H.T +24 137
>Arie_Sinke: BEEFHIJ 3B JIB.EH +48 310
#note I think I confused this word with KIBBEH? I wasn't confident that it was good; maybe 50/50, but I thought it was in my best interest to go ahead and play it despite my uncertainty. This is technically my third phoney of the game, after LANITOL and LANITOLS.
>Steve_Anstandig: CIST H1 CIST +42 179
>Arie_Sinke: CDEFMTZ A1 ZED +62 372
#note I play my fourth phoney of the game with DJIBBEHS. The correct spelling of JIBBAH does take a front D hook. If I were playing optimally, I would challenge of Steve's play of CIST, which uses a phoney hook, and play FUTZED 3J.
>Steve_Anstandig: EIMX H11 .XIME +66 245
>Arie_Sinke: CEFMRTW I13 FEW +31 403
#note Not great; blocking the floaters in OXIME certainly favors me, as I don't have the blank, but I sacrifice too much to do it. I thought my best alternative was FEW O1 for 3 more points, but I also have CWM J1 for 35 and CURFEW 3J for 28, which are clearly bette.
>Steve_Anstandig: NY 4D Y.N +28 273
>Arie_Sinke: CLMORRT 2F MO.L +28 431
#note This looks best, scores substantially more than any other play.
>Steve_Anstandig: EOTV O1 VETO +31 304
>Arie_Sinke: ACORRRT E12 TORC +8 439
#note Poor play, misread my tracking sheet and thought I was blocking all his outs. This is a 12 point error.
>Steve_Anstandig: ?ALPR 13K PoLAR +19 323
>Steve_Anstandig: (ARR) +6 329
