>Arie_Sinke: DLMNNOR 8G MORN +12 12
#note This game is going to be very disappointing to watch, as I don't play very well. MORN is fine, though, no point playing NORM to set up ENORM when I don't have it.
>Edwin_Roth: JOY 9F JOY +24 24
>Arie_Sinke: ?DFILNV J6 FI.D +16 28
#note Quackle wants me to play VIN or exchange, which suggests that I am underevaluating the badness of the V. Apparently three consonants and a V is clunkier than four consonants and no V.
>Edwin_Roth: AHTW K4 WHAT +27 51
>Arie_Sinke: ?ALNQUV J2 QUA +37 65
#note QUA is fine despite setting up a hook.
>Edwin_Roth: GI K1 GI +14 65
>Arie_Sinke: ?EGILNV I8 .ELiVING +80 145
#note This or another bingo with JOYED is best.
>Edwin_Roth: AFL 15F FLA. +24 89
>Arie_Sinke: ADELOTY L4 LAY +38 183
#note I wasn't confident about AGEDLY 1J for 49. It looks like a substantially better play.
>Edwin_Roth: IRT 1K .RIT +6 95
>Arie_Sinke: ADEEORT N1 .ARTED +22 205
#note I never know what to do in these situations where an opponent has just created an incredibly bold and volatile S setup (or potentially an H setup in this case.) Under normal circumstances a fish or a two tile play would be called for with this rack. Here, just playing JO F9 wins the sim EVEN WHEN I specify a partial leave of S or H. Apparently the GRITS/GRITH spot isn't as big a deal as one might think. I have had a similar situation in the past, where ignoring a setup like this and playing for equity won the sim, and frankly it's hard to believe that the sim is right, and I'm still not totally convinced I didn't make the right call here.
>Edwin_Roth: IS O1 SI +26 121
>Arie_Sinke: BEIOPUV 12I .IVE +20 225
#note My excellent bingo rack has devolved quickly into a poor one after my blocking play. I overevaluated the badness of the V here; eschewing BOP 10E, which wins the sim. I also thought that this play was defensive.
>Edwin_Roth: GIORSST 11C TRIGOS.S +68 189
>Arie_Sinke: ABOPPUU 10D APO +26 251
#note I didn't have the courage to challenge off TRIGOSiS here. I can't have no good excuses - I was just lacking confidence after my 0-3 start and figured it might be a good word I'd never seen before, and realized that I was in a decent spot after APO. APO is probably fine, assuming I don't challenge.
>Edwin_Roth: ?EHLNNT D6 CHIC..EEs +82 271
>Edwin_Roth: ?EHLNNT -- -82 189
>Arie_Sinke: BBIPTUU 12B BIB +26 277
#note I saw that Edwin had CHICkEE in two places - technically I can block the higher scoring one with BARBUT D9. I am inclined to believe that my actual best play is BUBU 11L, setting up nothing and giving me a spot to use if Edwin bingos or plays ECHE 6O. BIB isn't great, accomplishes nothing except scoring a few points and leaves the two Us yet again.
>Edwin_Roth: ?CCEEHI 7A CEvICHE +70 259
#note CHICkEE is a slightly better play, but this worked out very well for him.
>Arie_Sinke: ALPTTUU - +0 277
#note I challenged CEvICHE. I wasn't familiar with the word, only knew SEVICHE, and was foolishly emboldened by my previous successful challenge. If I play CUTUP and take the 27 points I'm still in great shape. Apparently CEVICHE is a pretty common word for those with a good knowledge of seafood, but I had never heard of it myself.
>Edwin_Roth: ERZ 13A REZ +52 311
>Arie_Sinke: ALPTTUU A7 .UTUP +27 304
#note This is fine, but the die is cast and I'm going to lose.
>Edwin_Roth: DEEW O5 WEED +32 343
>Arie_Sinke: ADELNNT B12 ..ND +14 318
#note Let's try a desperate fish. This play is actually pretty good. I bingo a lot
>Edwin_Roth: UX 13L XU +27 370
>Arie_Sinke: AELMNOT B9 OM +22 340
#note OMENTAL got blocked and I have to attempt another desperate fish. Quackle wants me to play OM 6F for 21, possibly because Quackle assumes that plays from H1 that set up a lot of bingos are likely. I don't like that play, but I don't like my play very much either. I think either position of OM is reasonable.
>Edwin_Roth: AEEKNOR 11L KENO +22 392
>Arie_Sinke: AELNOOT A13 .OO +20 360
#note I played the endgame optimally.
>Edwin_Roth: AAEENRS 14E SEA +14 406

>Arie_Sinke: (AENR) +8 389
