#description Created with Macondo
>cesar: ?DEFIRR 8D FERRIeD +78 78
#note as soon as i saw this rack, i knew i would have a good tournament. this is in contrast to the first rack of my last multiday (2020 Vegas), which i wrote about in insane length in that annotation.
>jonathan: AEEEFHK F4 FAKE. +22 22
#note JL: I screwed this turn up. I saw plays like C9 KAF that kept 3 E's and I7 plays like FAKE which opened up the L8 spot. I'm thinking the play has to be B7 KEEF which doesn't give a ton back or H7 KHAF for 35 and the points despite its gross leave. I tried accomplishing too many things at once with FAKER and paid the price.
>cesar: AEIIIWZ E3 WIZ +57 135
>jonathan: EEHLOOV 7I HOVEL +27 49
#note JL: I like D8 FOVEOLE for 26 a lot better here. I need the board wide open at this deficit.
>cesar: ADEIINR 8L DINE +28 163
>jonathan: DEELMOP D1 PLED +39 88
#note JL: PEED or MEED are other good options here. I recall wanting to hang on to an E as I saw the pool was getting low in E's early in the game.
>cesar: AAEIORT 1C A.ORIA +24 187
>jonathan: AEW - +0 88
#note i wasn't expecting a challenge here, but this was another good omen. i know jonathan has good word knowledge, especially given that awesome gurnards 3-3 in the early bird. JL: I snapchallenged because I thought Cesar mixed this up with EMPORIA for some reason and then while walking up to the challenge computer, I realized my mistake.
>cesar: EMNSTTU 9M TUM +16 203
#note even though it sims best, i don't think this is right anymore; i should probably not open another bingo lane but instead do something like MUT(ED) at L4.
>jonathan: AAEIMOW 9I WAE +26 114
#note JL: I was happy with this play.
>cesar: AEEGNST 2H NEGATES +76 279
>jonathan: ADEIMOP 1L APOD +33 147
#note JL: There are a few words at K1 like DEMOI and MEDIA/AIMED that score a little better. I didn't want to hang on to an O with a surplus of O's coming out.
>cesar: BCQRSTX I1 S.XT +28 307
#note the condo likes this best by win % but a good case exists for exchanging instead.
>jonathan: AEEGIMR 10L MEG +22 169
#note JL: I saw the 3K MEG but at this deficit, I felt I had to create another bingo line. I may have to cut spread at this point. REIMAGE was homeless and I thought the better of trying to slip SEXTE* by Cesar.
>cesar: BCENQRY 11I CYBER +33 340
>jonathan: AEHIIOR C1 .AH +32 201
#note JL: I liked this play to score and create a sneaky big lane. If I were in the lead, I would play it standard and just do 5I OHIA.
>cesar: GNNOQSU 5I SUQ +36 376
>jonathan: AEIIIOR -IIIII +0 201
#note JL: Cesar's original estimate of my rack was only short 1 or 2 I's. It's either my play or 3H IXIA.
>cesar: ?EGNNOV E8 .VENsONG +72 448
>jonathan: EILORTU 15E .OUT +15 216
#note JL: Cesar's play blocked FLUORITE which would have made things interesting and now OUTLIER is homeless. Honestly, I wasn''t sure what to do here.
>cesar: BCIINOT 13C BI.NTIC +30 478
>jonathan: AEIILRU 10B AUR.I +9 225
#note JL: Quackle thinks I should play the anagram of AUREI, URAEI in this spot instead. I'm not sure why Quackle prefers this.
>cesar: ALOOORY I13 .OY +17 495
>jonathan: EIILNST B2 STEIN +30 255
#note JL: I was really pleased to hit my B2 spot but that isn't the best endgame play. 12K IN for 18 keeping LITES is best. That's because Cesar plays B14 JO and I play A2 STILE for 30 to go out. Very clever!
>cesar: AJLOOR 14B JO +22 517
>jonathan: IL 7C LI +8 263
#note JL: I got this play right at least. I wasn't thrilled with the way I played this game. I don't think I was going to win, but a number of moves like FAKER made the margin much larger than it had to be. I've got to do a better job at conserving spread in these types of situations. Final score recorded as 517-270 because I undercounted HOVEL by 1. Congrats to Cesar on the tourney win!
>jonathan: (ALOR) +8 271
#note macondo doesn't have a pre-endgame engine, so i don't know how good of a move COY is. still, i lost 0 equity this game, so i disagree with Josh's assertion that he is far better than the rest of the field ?? (these beads work pretty well)
