#player2 James_Donnelly James Donnelly
>Samuel_Kaplan: LMORRRW 8E WORM +18 18
#note I have all of James' racks for this game. Can this game go my way? So far it's not looking good, and this barely sims ahead of exchanging down to R. Neither one of us would spot any WORM extensions throughout this whole game.
>James_Donnelly: DEGIRST F6 ST.DGIER +66 66
#note I'd do this over GR(O)DIEST any day as well.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?AELRRU 12D UR.tERAL +66 84
#note 13C LAR(R)UpER is a very cool one that I did not spot for 2 more. After briefly being behind once again, this is a perfect time to draw 3 vowels and a blank. I did see I8 sURREAL but hated how many points that gave back to James.
>James_Donnelly: CEILQST E5 QI +24 90
#note Clearly his best play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEEGINO 9E O.E +13 97
#note Apparently O(D)EA in this spot sims that much better than ODE does given the score and lack of available consonants to play through. #questionable
>James_Donnelly: CDELPST J10 CL.P +14 104
#note He does have H10 CL(E)PED for 33. Not sure the T setup is worth it here, and I'm also not sure if he didn't see CLEPED.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEGHIJN H10 JE.ING +42 139
#note Well if I'm not going to draw a bingo, this is a good time to score. Looks good.
>James_Donnelly: DESTTTU D11 T.TU +4 108
#note Another big miss for James. This time 14J TUTTED with the CLAPT hook is his play.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACGHINO 13J .OACH +26 165
#note 2nd best play, but a distant 2nd. This is where I could have used the WORM extension INCH(WORM) for 66. I clearly did not think of the extensions that could have come into play with my placement. #visionsad
>James_Donnelly: ?DEEFST I2 DEFEaTS +72 180
>Samuel_Kaplan: AABDGIN H1 DAB +25 190
#note 3B BADINAG(E)
>James_Donnelly: ADEOPUW N12 W.UP +24 204
#note Seems like J6 WO is fine.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AGIILNT O14 TI +20 210
#note Apparently I also forgot TAILING had an anagram, C5 INTAGLI! Unbelievable.
>James_Donnelly: AADEOSZ O8 ADOZE +54 258
#note And I'm going to have a hard time competing in Division 1 if I don't learn to find some things and James has this to use. I have my moments of glory and I also have missed easy stuff from time to time.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAEGILN N9 AG +17 227
#note Hard call...wasn't in the mood to take 7 points here but apparently Quackle really likes that despite the 10 point sacrifice.
>James_Donnelly: AAABSTV 15A AVAST +33 291
#note Looks good. He should be trying to outrun me after my repeated failed fishes (well more like 2 missed bingoes that were gettable).
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEILNNR 9D N... +5 232
>James_Donnelly: ABEIIOU 13A BAI.E. +18 309
#note Interesting. I can see why Quackle really likes C7 BEAU for him after I just fished again.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEILNOR M3 ALIENOR +73 305
#note Yayyyy
>James_Donnelly: ILMNNOV L6 NOM +19 328
#note 5I (E)NVO(I) is nice because the V does not get along with most of the consonants in the unseen pool. He got lucky that he blocked a high-scoring nonbingo that would have basically put the game away. This was misscored as 18.
>Samuel_Kaplan: FHNORSY K5 FOY +27 332
#note At this point, I was looking to eliminate the potential for J6 XI which would be extremely difficult to overcome. That's why I passed up G2 FOHN. But N2 FROSH for 57 was what I was referring to when James blocked with NOM. I clearly should have given more thought to do K5 HOY because of the possibility of hitting 4L F(L)EX. The X is going to be a key factor in this pre-endgame, and for what it's worth, the possibility of (a)X(ONE) is going to be a sneaky one which James might not spot.
>James_Donnelly: EIIILOU 15G I.LU +5 333
>Samuel_Kaplan: EHKNORS G2 HONK +25 357
#note Considering how quickly he played IGLU, I pretty much had to play this turn as if the N, V, X, or Y was in the bag. The V was going to be a major problem for me if I didn't leave a vowel on my rack as I would be scoring very little next turn because James will take Column N with something like NIX or VEX should the Y be in the bag. If the V was in the bag, James can outscore me with NIX then I have to waste a turn to do 6D (V)IS then he can do EY(N)E to score again. Even if I saw L1 HOKE for 15 more, I would not have been fully confident that I can outscore James if I don't draw the X or a vowel.
>James_Donnelly: EEIINVY L1 VINE +28 361
#note J2 EYE would have scored the most for him by far, but he has no wins because he doesn't have an effective block of (a)X(ONE).
>Samuel_Kaplan: ERSX 6I .X... +27 384
#note Knowing he doesn't have an out play, I will go out next turn in more than 1 spot.
>James_Donnelly: EIY - +0 361
#note James did challenge AXONE, which I was surprised by, but he couldn't win if he didn't challenge.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ERS J1 RES +21 405
#note It's pretty funny how I can play as well as I did in Rounds 4 and 5 (for the most part) and lose both of those, but play not as well in Round 6 and still win. That's the life of a Scrabble player for you. Final score was recorded as 417-360.
