>Sokol: HJLOSTT H4 JOLTS +40 40
#note first letters I picked up were JOSH. This was Josh's birthday tournament. can't even begin to explain how insane
>Smylie: ?EMOQWX 6H .OX +26 26
#note MOW is better, just a case of EMQW? being especially bad on this board and the opening after MOW being better for me on average than him, in case qat/qi does stay open
>Sokol: ?DHOPTV I5 P.OH +22 62
#note didn't see PH(LOX) until after my play. Still, this is my play. PHLOX is good too.
>Smylie: ?AEMOQW -OQW +0 26
#note didnt see OPAQUE but this is better
>Sokol: ?DRTVVY -DEI +0 62
#note exchange down to DRT? Weird decision as I usually prefer to keep only two consonants with a blank, but I figured I was wanting Jackson to open, and this might give me the highest chance of a decently-scoring comeback bingo. I think I regret this decision.
>Smylie: ?AAEIMR J5 A.E +18 44
#note against a strong range I preferred AXE. sims a bit below AMIRATE with nothing specified in the sim so I think its okay
>Sokol: ?DOORTV -ENP +0 62
#note exchange down to DRT again. I could keep DR or DT only with the blank, but I think I should keep the D for TOED.
>Smylie: ?AEIMRY K7 AY +9 53
#note looks better than ash/ay for 6 more to keep things tight and pounce
>Sokol: ?DENRRT 5G D...NT +18 80
#note I did not think Jackson's range was so insanely good here. But I didn't like the prospect of me giving him a bingo with REND or NERD at 9J. Still, I should maybe play those.
>Smylie: ?AEIMNR L7 sEMINAR +78 131
>Sokol: ?AELMRR 10G MARbL.ER +61 141
#note failed to see REMAILER through the same I. It's close, since opening the huge triple gives back more than just 6 immediately. In hindsight I don't know. #questionable
>Smylie: AAEELNT K10 .EA +12 143
#note in this specific iteration REMAILER would have worked out pretty well.
>Sokol: FINQSUW L1 QUIN. +48 189
>Smylie: ABEELNT 11A TENABLE +72 215
>Sokol: CCDFISW 10B FID +33 222
#note weird spot. But if I draw just an E, I get W(IN)CE C9. If I draw an A, I am bailed out by W(I)CCA 3K. IE gives me (T)WICE A11. Other consideration was SWIF(T) A7. WICC(A)S D7 is also interesting.
>Smylie: BEEIOUZ 1L .UIZ +66 281
>Sokol: ACCINSW 14F WICCANS +83 305
#note pretty insane
>Smylie: BEEKORT 13B REEBOK +50 331
#note BOCK, BECK, REEBOK all close. I liked the aggression of scoring points with REEBOK, since EERT isn't anything special on this board. REEBOK is a bit more defensive, but only lowers his bingo % by 1%. EERT is nice just to guarantee a balanced rack, but it does look really close overall. regretted this majorly
>Sokol: DEHORTW 15A WORTHED +109 414
#note insaner
>Smylie: IINOOPT - +0 331
#note IODATE is probably the play, but it just wins so rarely
>Sokol: AEEFGIY 2N FA +31 445
#note I think this is right to severely reduce Jackson's ability to score while opening (2J spot). AY(E) M8 sims a bit better because of blocking the R, but I don't care about the R. It's extremely hard to open the board now and win after getting a bingo down. I won't let you get two. The only worry is some insane bingo from ZA, which I didn't see.
>Smylie: IINOOPT 9C POI +20 351
>Sokol: EEGGIRY M8 RY. +27 472
#note in fact the only thing from ZA was ZARATITES. And Jackson just blocked all the amazing 10s through DA_E. G(R)EIGE seemed safest here but I was happy to play for spread and not block the ZA spot.
