#note Looks best.

>Arie_Sinke: ?CEGILX 13C EXC.L +30 59
#note This is poor. I was ready to play EX at G12, but before making my play I decided that CGIL? was poor and switched to EXCEL. EXCEL has the serious liability of setting up 12A-D, which is very likely to get used and scores a lot of points. EXCEL also scores 8 points less than EX, which is a lot to give up. Apparently CGIL? is not even that bad a leave. It just looks kind of ugly. I need to slow down, because 15 seconds of sober second thought is enough to realize that EXCEL isn't very good.
>Chloe_Fatsis: AEEENOV 12A VANE +42 87
#note VENA a bit better to keep underlap possibilities open with all my Es
>Arie_Sinke: ?EGIISU 14F .ISGUIsE +63 122
#note Only bingo.
>Chloe_Fatsis: EEEIOQT L12 QI. +22 109
#note EVITE is the play because I keep QI at E11. Couldn't decide if I should play 13K QI or this, but the other way looks a bit better. Both do pretty badly in a sim
>Arie_Sinke: AAEIRRT A12 .ARA +21 143
#note This play is also not very good. I should be taking out the DISGUIsE hooks with something like N13 AR. Also, VAIR is better than this. I somehow convinced myself that the V was a bigger deal than the DISGUISE hooks, reasoning that they might favor me if I kept an R myself. This also scores less than anything using DISGUISER.
>Chloe_Fatsis: EEEOTUZ B10 ZO. +32 141
#note 12J TOQUE looks better, though his last play was a bit fishy and there are still 5 Ts and 3 Ss out.... hm
>Arie_Sinke: DEILORT M7 DOLERIT. +89 232
#note Only bingo.
>Chloe_Fatsis: EEEPRTU 8L P.ET +27 168
#note POUT looks better, EEER > EERU it seems. UPTORE looks best though, didn't see it.
>Arie_Sinke: AAFGTUW C6 FATWA +27 259
#note This looks best.
>Chloe_Fatsis: EEIORSU B2 OURIE +21 189
#note OUTER might be better to set up an S hook
>Arie_Sinke: GHILOTU 15G THO +39 298
#note OUTHIT 8A looks like a better play; scores the same but cleans up the leave a bit. It also obstructs some lines for sevens, like column D. I was all impressed with myself for recognizing that THO would get me one point more than HOT and didn't bother looking for anything better.
>Chloe_Fatsis: EEFHPST 8A TE.H +33 222
#note missed D4 HEFT somehow, though this does set up an S hook which is nice. N10 FES scores 41 but even that and a bingo won't be enough to catch up.
>Arie_Sinke: GILOTUV D8 .OG +25 323
#note I may have underestimated how poor ILTUV is; I can play something like VULGO and give up quite a few points and keep a leave that is also poor (ITU) and the sim likes it better. I should really be trying to control the board here, and HOG does practically nothing. Maybe something like GUILT or GLOUT at D2 to get rid of TETHS and make rows 2-4 harder to hit? The T in POET is very difficult to deal with.
>Chloe_Fatsis: ADEFIPS 4A F.AP +26 248
>Arie_Sinke: ILNRTUV 10J VIL.R +18 341
#note I liked VILER because it partially obstructs the T. UNVEIL in the same spot does the same thing while scoring 5 less and keeping RT instead of NTU. The plays sim close.
>Chloe_Fatsis: ADEEIRS O1 READIES. +83 331
>Arie_Sinke: DNNRTUY 3D UNDY +16 357
#note My lead has evaporated in one turn, and I now find myself up 10 on a fairly open board with a blank out and a poor rack. I don't really know what to do here. I don't feel like a favorite, and indeed, a sim to the end of the game puts my chances at 38-42%, depending on what I play. This is probably the best equity choice; scores as well as possible, keeps as good a leave as possible, and blocks a bit - and indeed, I did end up obstructing Chloe's play of UNAGILE. A sim to the end of the game suggests TUNDRA 3J, which keeps NY (a better leave for non-bingo scoring than NRT) and obstructs the E and D in readiest, at the expense of setting up a lot of sevens. Either way, I'm probably in trouble if I don't draw the blank or luck into some natural bingo.
>Chloe_Fatsis: AEGILNU 14A .UG +12 343
#note Fishing the U hits a lot, and even if he makes a blocking play parallel READIEST I can still hit 2F EANLING and 5D SEALING 6/15. I don't know why I felt the need to get rid of the G as well, I need to get better at considering these one tile fishes.
>Arie_Sinke: ?BMNNRT 11E N.B +14 371
#note I drew a blank here exactly when I needed one. Unfortunately, I also drew a lot of consonants. I don't know what's best here but this probably isn't it. Many of the plays that do well in a sim to the end of the game play three consonants, and I can see how that's the way to go. What surprised me here is that I bingo more with the B than with the M. Perhaps this is because there is an M unseen, or because the B goes better with the W. The plays that do best in the sim are MORN and NORM at 8G for 6. NIM also does better than NIB.
>Chloe_Fatsis: AEILNSW N6 WA. +31 374
>Arie_Sinke: ?EMNORT 4H MENTORe. +76 447
#note I mistracked here and switched the unseen L for an E. I realized I had made an error and hastily retracked the game and naturally got it wrong. I tried to figure out whether I would lose more often after this play or any bingo at 2G, and concluded that this surely blocked more with the two minutes or so left on my clock. My instinct turned out to be correct, as this blocks a bunch of bingos with UPS (including SIMNELS, which is what Chloe actually had). Then after I drew my two tiles, I thought she had SIEMENS, which would still play on top of UNDY, and was relieved to see the L go down and realize I had made a tracking error.
>Chloe_Fatsis: EILMNSS 5D SLIMES +27 401
>Arie_Sinke: NO 6F NO +12 459
#note NO is correct. I didn't play that well this game, but I also had some challenging positions. Wish I could slow down and avoid making plays like EXCEL. I was probably on a trajectory to lose the game until I got bailed out by the blank, and then the two vowel draw after NIB.
