>Jason_Li: ILMO 8G LIMO +12 12
>Arie_Sinke: BDINORU 7H BUD +19 19
#note Missed bingo #8 of the tournament: MORIBUND. Plays like that can be tough to find. This seems a bit better than the other non-bingo options.
>Jason_Li: ISWY K4 YWIS +27 39
>Arie_Sinke: ABEINOR L2 BIO +20 39
#note This play doesn't win the sim, and I think I may be overvaluing AENR a bit here - plays like BRIO and BORA in the same spot do a little bit better. Also YOB, which I don't care for because of my aversion to vowel-heavy fishing leaves. It's close, though, any of these plays is reasonable and not a significant error.
>Jason_Li: ?EENRUV M4 UNREeVE +70 109
>Arie_Sinke: AEELNRU N4 RUE +18 57
#note I didn't see UNREEL N2 for 31, which looks clearly better than any alternative. I also may want to go for a play like UNABLE 2J instead of this - creating O column plays may not favor me. I'm in a somewhat unusual position here, as I have to avoid losing this game and the next game by a cumulative spread of 181 in order to win the tournament, so I may be more open to losing than usual if I can lose by a narrow enough margin - RUE may not be the best play for that, as it creates O column spots.
>Jason_Li: DEHLO N10 HOLED +47 156
>Arie_Sinke: AEELNOU O1 AEON +24 81
#note This seems reasonable.
>Jason_Li: TTY 8L Y.TT +30 186
>Arie_Sinke: AEILNTU 2J NU.IL. +20 101
#note Here I draw a bingo (ALUNITE) that would play in Collins at 9C (Forming UME#.) NUBILE seemed like a pretty good way to create an opening for myself; I feel like many of the fishier options here, like O13 LEU, only work if a few key lines stay open, and I can't count on that.
>Jason_Li: IIIOOOO -IIOOO +0 186
>Arie_Sinke: AEEIPTW 1E TAWPIE +35 136
#note This looks correct.
>Jason_Li: CCEIOSS 3D CISCOES +68 254
>Arie_Sinke: AEEHOPR D3 .HEAPO +28 164
#note Don't really know what to do here.... I saw and eschewed a bunch of dinky O13 plays like HOE, but didn't notice PAREO O11. CHEAPO, however, may be more appropriate with a deficit - makes the board more difficult to control. However, it could be argued that I don't really have a deficit, as all I need to do is avoid losing these two games by a cumulative margin of 181, and I'm not down by 181 yet. That being said, I would like to win this game, and CHEAPO seems to maximize my odds - it's extremely difficult to keep the board tight after a play like CHEAPO.
>Jason_Li: AEENT O11 EATEN +28 282
#note Overscored by 1 point.
>Arie_Sinke: AAEGORV M12 AVO +31 195
#note Jason's play of EATEN was excellent from a defensive perspective. AVO creates an opening that's difficult to block without an S or a blank. Unfortunately, I don't have an S or a blank. This is probably good for winning but poor for avoiding losing by 181, but I do want to win.
>Jason_Li: IJKN 6C K.NJI +32 314
>Arie_Sinke: ADEGRRR 8A ARD.R +18 213
#note This looks right, cleans up the R's and sets up the A.
>Jason_Li: FGI L10 FIG +33 347
>Arie_Sinke: ?AEGNOR 15G ORANGEs +80 293
#note Would anyone consider bARONAGE A7 for 59 here? It's a good way to lose by a large margin, but it may give me a sliver of hope. Howeve, ORANGEs (or ONAGERs) also gives me a sliver of hope, as if I draw an out-bingo I probably win. It seems better to give myself a chance in a manner that doesn't sacrifice spread, as spread is very important here.
>Jason_Li: Q 11K Q. +22 369
>Arie_Sinke: AEGMRTZ H7 ..Z +14 307
#note This play is 100% correct for both spread and winning chances, and I'm glad I found it. I win 12.5% of the time with an I draw by threatening either MIGRATE at 10B or 14A (or RAGTIME) or GEMATRIA at A1, all of which cannot be blocked with one play. Any Z play like GRAZER loses 100% of the time, and is worse for spread to boot, as these plays set up counterplays like AXIL and make it difficult for me to go out in two.
>Jason_Li: ADFILSX A6 FL.X +14 383
>Arie_Sinke: AEGMRTT 10F GREAT +27 334
#note This is a two point spread error. Playing TARGET 14A blocks Jason's play of SADI, forcing him to go out with RAIDS E8 for only 12. Plays like GERM 10G score more but are incorrect because they set up DAIS. Score was recorded as 410-334.
>Jason_Li: ADIS 14G SADI +18 401
>Jason_Li: (MT) +8 409
