Game 2
REZ sims 4 better and I didn't even think about it. It's hard to argue with opening sims but I really don't hate MIRED since E and R are the best floaters anyway and the Z can usually do more damage on the second play than the first. It's true that every floater helps a strong opp, but a strong opp also isn't as dependent on/interested in those silly reparallels as a weaker one might be.
>Lisa_Odom: AIUBR D3 BARIU. +20 20
>Stefan_Kac: AEBRTYZ 7G YEZ +41 63
#note As usual I saw and rejected C1 BRAZE without counting it. It scores 12 more and sims at +6. Is there anything to be said for flagging as suspicious those roboplays where the sim is fully half the gross point difference? Also, BARIU(M) was a really hard play from which to draw inferences. Taking a long time and eschewing the center hotspots signals a certain distress level, and five tiles is a decent amount of randomness to introduce to the next rack. These considerations would strongly favor BRAZE. On the other hand, if BARIU(M) is a calculated choice to open the board rather than cluttering it, then YEZ is defensible. My thought was basically, dump the Y and don't give back a tws lane.

#note Again, pretty hard to argue for a -12 choice, but after BARIU(M) and O(B)A I just don't see how you can sleep at night keeping FGRT here. 4C W(A)B at least keeps GRAFT on the rack, achieves similar defense, scores 2 more and sims 4 better. Not many humans would see or consider B(ED)WARF but I'd take it ten out of ten times over any 0/4 leave such as the sim's preferences would saddle us with.

#note A recurring mental block. I do really want to hold back to bingo and score-block with the J instead but I can't get my head around losing the E and so I see only JO(E) and not J(E)ED. Sim says we are still 61% to bingo after JEED, vs. 86% after JOE...and 20% after JA(W)BOnED, which seems...generous. Another recurrence: I definitely need to play the long game with this blank and save the bingo for a turn where it closes rather than opens an already absurdly open board. So JEED saving the blank is def the play even if the bingo chances next turn are sub-5%.

#note Actually saw the "best" roboplay this time. I thought this was the best leave and chases baubles.

#note Immediately tunneled on SOCIA(L) then spent a few minutes talking myself out of it. Had a vague thought that not revealing the esses had value here, about which I can't claim to have any kind of sophisticated rationale. SOCIAL does sim 3 better.
>Lisa_Odom: AEIONNT 11F .EANOINT +66 268
>Stefan_Kac: ODSST 10H TODS +22 249
#note The incomplete racks here betoken the time trouble. Short version: I end up with all the power tiles, few to no vowels, and little to do. Oddly, opp and I later played a game where she had the same trouble, even exchanging an ess early on which I later drew and used to pull away.
>Lisa_Odom: UX 12K XU +32 300
>Stefan_Kac: U?DNSY 14H UNDY +16 265
#note Terrible, but at least opp's options for defending (REANOINT)S plays are not great. B11 N(O)SY looks fine here.
