Game 4
Sim thinks keeping ENR or ELR is 1 better. Elsewhere on this site there is a Gibson-Sherman game where GIJoel has expounded on the shortcomings of Q's evaluation of an opening exchange. This influenced my decision to exch five instead of four here.

>kacattac: AEEEILR I5 LIE.E +8 8
#note Sim thinks A(G)EE or (G)EE would be a smidge better. LIE(G)E was intended to create an open board after last week's games showed that I tended to play too scared in positions like this. After this week's all-around disaster maybe I'll go back to playing scared next week.

#note I fail to summon any more energy to grind out the choices here. I don't hate fishing here as much as sim hates it, but 5G YU(L)AN is definitely the star play. L4 UN(S)AY is a worse version but probably still better on the whole than what I ended up doing.

#note SK mutters: FML, my System 1 sounds the alarm, my System 2 gets cold feet, and then I notice that this gives me a Q play. In hindsight this all seems pretty dumb.
>kacattac: ADHNQSV 2B QA.D +28 129
#note Sim says this is a large mistake; I should play VAND(A) like I was planning to originally.

#note C9 VESTS runs away with this sim, I did see the spot, and in hindsight it's easy to get on board with that: it scores the best, turns over maximally to chase blanks, and leaves the new openings for opp to worry about while I get to enjoy thinking happier thoughts about them. Of course, every frail human foible militates against VESTS: it burns two esses for a non-bingo and leaves a huge opening for opp. Maybe next week I'll switch from caffeine to alcohol.
>bynak: ?CGOOUW 15A GOW. +36 292
>kacattac: DGSTTUW 13M WUD +26 221
#note I cling to an S which has little value on the board aside from enabling H12 GUST or DUST here. WUD is next best, but in any case the game is already out of reach at this point.
