Game 3
Sim wants YOMP or MOPEY. I'm fine with MOPY because it gives less back and I want to minimize volatility as long as I'm keeping the Q.
>Backspin: AIINORR 9C NORI +15 43
>kacattac: AEINNNQ 10F NINE +12 39
#note Sim wants the play I saw and rejected, NANNIE. I again thought it was more important not to open too much of the board if I'm going to sit on the Q. Also thought that keeping the A was important for QAT potential at 10B.
>Backspin: AIIORWY 9I WIRY +23 66
>kacattac: ACFLNOQ L8 C.ANO +26 65
#note FML, I'm hot off a sub-300 trainwreck and this is already another disaster brewing. This play sims best. For the third time in as many turns, I keep the Q without a solution in hand. No exchange or Q play has yet simmed anywhere near the top.
>Backspin: ACDEILO 8K A.OLD +26 92
>kacattac: EEFLQRR -EFLQR +0 65
#note I crack. Once again sim wants to power through this thunderstorm. D8 (WO)LFER is slick, and J2 FREEL(Y) also seems defensible. One thing the sim doesn't capture here is that it's way above even odds that opp has drawn an S by now, and its virtually certain that his last leave was balanced. For these reasons I'd say that M10 REFER or REFEL are not nearly as strong as sim thinks.

#note FML FOURS(O)ME
>Backspin: ACGILQU 5I CLIQU. +34 162
>kacattac: DEIORST 5I ......D +30 130
#note When I was new I would have spotted the playable bingo here pretty fast. Now I know that CLIQUED is a word, but I can't find a lot of fourth and fifth EIORST anagrams because I don't ever study them. These are not excuses, they're reasons.
>Backspin: ?AGIOOR 6H GOA +26 188
>kacattac: EIIORST O8 .IORITES +80 210
>Backspin: ?HHIORU N12 HUH +35 223
>kacattac: AEELNTV 10B VAN +22 232
#note The plays that sim ahead of this all score the same and give back huge openings.
>Backspin: ?EIORUV C9 ..EVI +16 239
>kacattac: AEELOTX N1 EX +41 273
>Backspin: ?EORSSU 4C cOURSES +72 311
>kacattac: AAEILOT H1 ALA. +12 285
#note This sims very poorly and 12C (V)IOLATE sims very well. Perhaps that means: play for the highest score and try to outrun. Instead I gamble that I can hit a bingo and opp can't.
>Backspin: AAJNTTT K11 ATT +12 323
#note SK notes: F2 JA(R) and E2 JA(U)NT block the new lanes, but perhaps a bingo off of a starting V is indeed a bigger threat here. ATT sims badly, but it does make me sweat the J for one more turn, both as something I could draw and as something that can threaten big responses to new openings.
>kacattac: EEGIORT 12A GI.E +20 305
#note Narrowly loses out to some characteristically droidish options, but there is at least a path here since with eight in the bag I should get one more turn to maneuver. I'm not sure what the path is after 2H (L)OGE, J13 EGO, or 12C (V)ERTIGO.
>Backspin: AFJNRST E2 JA.NT +24 347
>kacattac: BDEEORT E11 BRED +23 328
#note Too cute. Didn't look carefully enough at the pool...this only works out if E? are in the bag, which is extremely unlikely. Not sure anything can win here, but this is definitely not going to do it.
