#note Sometimes it's fun to keep the Z in the earlygame, because often you can hit a tls. Not here though. Sim wants me to keep the Z anyway. Humph.

#note cLARITY is the play I was looking for. Or L2 aLA(C)RITY.

>kacattac: ADEFNOR E6 FAN.ED +18 184
#note Felt like playing max defense here, but this is too big an equity sacrifice. Shorter plays keep the rack together and score more.

>kacattac: AEJORSS 11I JOES +34 218
#note I was all set to play at 10J, then noticed that this is the best score available. Sim does like 10J a bit better, perhaps because it doesn't open a hotspot, and because it restricts column n. There are several options there; find one that meets your needs and fits your budget. I decided to pig the points here.

>kacattac: AEIIORS 13J SERAI +23 241
#note This club has broken my psyche and turned me into a defensive player. Sim much prefers dropping IO or AIO in most any of the obvios places. Sim also really likes 13B ARIOSI, which I saw but don't like. Perhaps it forces his bingo towards the edge; it also may make it easier for him to bingo. The old connundrum.

>kacattac: BEIMOTV 3I VOM.T +28 269
#note FML, I am really hemorrhaging word knowledge these days. This is five-sevenths of a bingo. If I am to miss, sim much prefers MOTIVE in this spot. D2 MOVIE is also fairly strong. I considered MOVIE but decided to leave column D unmolested. With a sizable lead I think that lanes like D1 are more valuable to me than to opp: for the leading player it's an emergency lever while for the trailer it gives back too much to be useful in mounting a comeback. VOMIT was conceived to limit long-term volatility, which could otherwise become unmanageable. But sure, a 91 point bingo would have been great too, no matter what it gives back.
>mahomes: EIMNRRU B1 UNMERRI.. +76 251
#note SK murmurs: darn, EEIU is like literally the next nines list I would be making right now if I had not decided to abandon nines for more ostensibly useful things. It would have been nice to have half an inkling here. Instead, I have to rely on past observation that I have never once known this opp to phoney. And indeed, this word is good.
>kacattac: ABEEFIO C2 OAF +27 296
#note Sims best. Pretty clearly the best balance of score and defense.
>mahomes: CEHOOOU J5 .HO +32 283
>kacattac: BEEILXY G11 BEY +20 316
#note This sims terribly. BEY/VOMITY scores 10 more, sets up EX next turn, and doesn't give back as much as it might seem. There are many other better options too. This forces opp's bingo towards the edge, or it allows me to keep pace if opp bingos in column O...or it merely allows opp to grab tempo without a bingo. You fake the call.
>mahomes: ACEEOOU N2 COOEE +29 312
>kacattac: DEEILNX H12 DENI +32 348
#note It's always nice to be rewarded for one's mistakes. I thought it was crucial to keep the L for L(OAF) or (SERAI)L later. For some reason this is not reflected in the sim at all. This is the spot, though. A 60 point bingo though the I doesn't kill me, and none of the less volatile options justify the sacrifice in score.
>mahomes: ?ADIOQU 3B ..QUI +16 328
#note SK notes: 2J DO edges this out very slightly at both two- and four-ply depths. It seems the strength of MAQUI is that it presents multiple paths to victory: by drawing the X, or by hitting a bingo on row 15. The downside is that it just doesn't score enough. DO is more of a single-path, all-or-nothing play. I would probably prefer to weaponize the QU? combination here, especially because it forces one's opponent to sweat the Q for one more turn. But MAQUI is an equally strong play.
>kacattac: AEHLSTX 15D LATH.S +10 358
#note Here we have the epitome of low equity, high win% scrabble.
