>Ken: IKNORUW 8D KORUN +28 28
#note I like the uncertainty KORUN injects with the backhooks. Does she know that KORUN takes an A and Y but not S? Do I know?? Actually I forgot about the Y. Not being 100% on the hooks myself made me a bit uncomfortable, but it seemed like the right play. If I know the hooks for sure, then it becomes an even better play, especially against a lower-rated opponent.

#note exchange 5
>Ken: ACEFISU 4B FAU.E +22 158
#note I didn't consider K11 FEU which scores 2 more points and has a better leave. Would probably play this.

>Ken: EGGIOUZ O1 ZIG +42 279
>Anna_Miransky: ELY 3A LEY +27 251
>Ken: DEGHOTU F2 DO.TH +45 324
#note Had to fight hard to find this play. It was tempting to make a clearly worse play like H12 THUG or F4 EDH.
>Anna_Miransky: ILU F10 LI.U +6 257
>Ken: EGLMRUV 11I R.VUE +18 342
#note I don't like other options like 13A VUM or C9 VELOUR. I don't want to open a triple bingo lane that leaves no response. I like that I11 REVUE blocks the M line hooking an A to LA to make ALA. Also there is the C backhook on MY which creates a bingo lane. I'm not sure Anna sees that possibility, but I can't assume not. Given my lead, I'm not very worried about the S hook on LIEU because whatever bingo she might play there should give me a response on line 15.
>Anna_Miransky: AP A1 PA. +15 272
>Ken: AEGLMNO C9 GLO.M +20 362
#note I didn't consider M8 MANEGE and think it's better. 30 points is a big deal at this stage. Even if she bingos on line 14 for 75-85 points, I will still have the lead and an opportunity to respond on the triple line. Turning over 5 tiles to play MANEGE increases my chances of drawing a scoring tile like B or F or P or X to maximize the impact of my response to any presumptive bingo on her next turn.
>Anna_Miransky: X 11E X. +36 308
>Ken: ABEEFNT L8 BEA.T +20 382
#note My lead is narrowing, but I'm still up by enough to handle a bingo on the 14 line with S hook on LIEU. L8 BEAUT scores points and pushes the action down, creating a path to a (narrow) victory that I feel I can execute. To that end, I like keeping EF for a high-scoring response on the triple to the bingo she might hit next turn. If she sacrifices points on her next turn to open up the A triple lane, I can score enough on the comeback on the A line to put the game out of reach.
>Anna_Miransky: Q 7M Q. +21 329
>Ken: BCDEFNT L3 B.NC +20 402
#note Quackle likes B2 DEFECT for 42 points, which I understand because it basically guarantees victory by putting the game out of reach. I actually didn't see the play at the time. L3 BANC isn't bad because it scores and keeps the tiles I'll need for a high-scoring comeback on the 15 line. If the lead is smaller, I think DEFECT becomes a worse play because although Quackle might give me a decent chance to draw the S and ?, at this point in the game I think it's likely that my opponent has both and good bingo tiles generally.
>Anna_Miransky: IR 3E ..IR +5 334
>Ken: DEEFNPT - +0 402
#note I calculate that if I play H1 FERN for 24 points, I create a big enough lead that I can't lose. However, I think I can do better by passing and not letting her bingo out.
>Anna_Miransky: ?AAINRS 14F SAuRIAN +67 401
>Ken: DEEFNPT 15H PENT +33 435
#note I was under time pressure. 15H PEND is obviously better than 15H PENT
>Anna_Miransky: E 6E ..E. +10 411
>Anna_Miransky: (DEF) +14 425
#note Interesting game overall! Anna later complimented me on my play in this one, and it seemed she played very well too, making plays like LIEU and NOIR which demonstrated situational and board awareness.
