#player1 Carl Carl
#player2 Josh Josh
>Carl: AIIMRST 8B SIMITAR +74 74
#note With everyone watching, I nearly missed this. I dunno about you, but for me, it's one of the hardest bingos.
>Josh: IMNUY F6 MU.INY +19 19
>Carl: AAENNOW E11 ANEW +24 98
#note Missing NOWAY (-5) #visionmedium
>Josh: INNORUY D10 RYU +25 44
>Carl: ABEEINO 7C BEA. +22 120
>Josh: FNO F13 FON +20 64
>Carl: EIINOPR 6F .OI +5 125
#note Everyone hated this play, and so did I. But I couldn't figure out what to do, and MOI actually sims decently. The correct play is probably SINOPIE B8, which I didn't see. It's the highest scoring play, keeps the R, and goes for turnover. Turnover is not usually that important this early, but sometimes there's nothing else to do. (-5) #visionsmall
>Josh: HO 9B HO +17 81
#note Apparently, I blocked ANTIHERO with MOI.
>Carl: EHILNPR A9 PLIER +16 141
#note This sims way, way back: I didn't see EH 10A. No one mentioned this in either the commentary or the chat, which vindicates me slightly. SHH must be difficult to spot for everyone. (-12) #visionlarge

>Josh: AANTV 13J AVANT +25 287
>Carl: ?DEEGIT K3 fI.GETED +60 292
#note I spent a long time on this rack but still missed INGESTED. So annoying! (-4) #visionsmall
>Josh: AALPTUV N9 VALU.A +22 309
>Carl: ACELOOS L11 OC. +10 302
#note People gave me crap about this play, but I feel pretty confident about it. Of the 13 remaining tiles, only 3 of them are vowels. L11-15 is the easiest way for Josh to unload consonants and score, although he does have other options like BULK I4 or RITZ G12. But my primary concern was the Q. See next slide.
>Josh: IQ J2 QI +32 341
#note Quackle says that OCA loses 11% more often than OLEO, but you can't trust the sim here. Quackle isn't thinking through the adjustments that Josh will make if he doesn't have the Q after OLEO. If he has the I on his rack, he'll probably play something at 12G. It's a logical spot to begin with because he needs to unload consonants, and I'll be essentially Q-stuck if I draw it. Quackle doesn't consider that Josh *never* held the Q when he played VALUTA, increasing the chance that I'll draw it. This puts a premium on playing short, which also favors OCA. OCA also blocks QAT L12, forcing Josh to either lose a tempo with QI 12G or QAT M10, or burn a precious vowel with QI J2. Meanwhile, I have the case S and he can't block the two lanes on Row 15. Sometimes I'll draw into ZEST L15 after OCA, not true of other plays on column L.
>Carl: ABELLOS 1A .LOSABLE +89 391
#note Basically, OCA wasn't a matter of crazy ol' Carl fishin' for bingos. In fact, I was absolutely shocked to draw one. However, with more time, I would have actually looked to see what bingos were out there before playing it. I would have also looked for more ways to win even if I drew the Q. For instance, can I outrun a Q-stick if I draw the Z or some other good combination? Are such combinations plentiful enough to rule out OCA and just take the points? I didn't have enough time to adequately consider these things, but might have misevaluated it anyway; there are too many combinations to consider with 6 in the bag.
>Josh: FKOPRTZ E3 Z.K +32 373
#note The moral of this story is that next year, the commentators and spectators need to be able to see what the pool looks like, or the endgame won't make any sense.
