#player2 Josh_S Josh S
>Carl: CHLNOQT 8D CLOTH +26 26
#note I was surprised to see NOTCH H8 outsim CLOTH-- probably due to the CLOTHE hook, as well as the possibility of the Q at J6 after NOTCH. (-2) #strategysmall
>Josh_S: GHIILOU D8 .OUGH +22 22
>Carl: CNOPPQS 12A QOP. +28 54
#note Nearly missed this, as I often do with QOPH. Josh noted that all of the first plays were exact or near-homophones, for those of you playing Annotated Game Yahtzee.
>Josh_S: AIIJLTZ 9H AJI +23 45
>Carl: CNOPRSU 10G UPON +29 83
#note I was flustered here, since Josh had miraculously blocked SUNPORCH H1. I absolutely hated UPON when I played it, figuring I was just asking for Josh to have a Y, or some big play on column A, and why would I unload the U with the Q at A12? Surprisingly, UPON wins the sim just because all the other candidates all suck. CROUP B10 takes an E, POS E10 burns the S and doesn't neutralize the Q spot (because of APOS). PUG 11B burns the U and doesn't score anything. UPON is probably a little better than the sim suggests, since AJI telegraphs an S, and UPON blocks both 2x2 lanes.
>Josh_S: EIKLTWZ B10 ZL.TE +68 113
>Carl: CDNRRSY F6 CR.NY +42 125
#note I know I sai... okay, I'll really stop mentioning just how lucky I was at Nationals. Promise.
>Josh_S: DIKMRVW 8J VIM +17 130
>Carl: ADIRSTW A12 .ADI +47 172
>Josh_S: DEKRTWX 11I WERT +34 164
>Carl: ?ARSSTW M2 WASTeRS +79 251
>Josh_S: DFKLRRX 6K FL.X +29 193
>Carl: ?DEGIRV 4F DIVeRGE. +82 333
>Josh_S: BDGIKRR 12L IRK +18 211
>Carl: ADEEOTT N10 TO.ED +24 357
#note OAKED N10 is a little better since there are lots of As still to be drawn. (-2) #leaveevaluationsmall
>Josh_S: BDEGIRY 8A BED..... +48 259
>Josh_S: BDEGIRY -- -48 211
#note During my insomniac studying session on Friday night/ Saturday morning, this was one of the phonies I studied. I always see BLOTCHED/BEDCLOTH* but I was ready for it this time. Some sick timing!
>Carl: AEEISTU H3 U.EA +7 364
#note This play makes it all but impossible that Josh bingos twice.
>Josh_S: BDEGIRY O7 GYBED +41 252
>Carl: AEEILST N5 A.E +16 380
#note I saw APE C11 but figured I was closer to a bingo than Josh, and didn't want to block D13. This turned out to be a pretty costly mistake. (-3) #strategysmall
>Josh_S: ABEINOR 14A ..BONAIRE +64 316
#note Wow!
>Carl: AEILOST 15G TELIA +25 405
#note Quackle burns the S for an extra 5 points with STELAI. I'm not sure why that is. Another superior play is OILCLOTH 8A, which I never would have seen. I'd find it as a bingo every time, but not as an extension. (-2% win chances, -10 valuation) #strategysmall, #visionlarge
>Josh_S: AEINNNU G2 UN. +7 323
#note Of course I have the M.
>Carl: AEIMOSS J7 O.... +8 413
>Josh_S: AEEFINN O1 INANE +21 344
>Carl: AEIMOSS 1G MIOSES +33 446
>Josh_S: EF 15C EF +22 366
