Player 1
#player1 Carl Carl
#player2 James James
>Carl: AFINRTU 8H ANTIFUR +78 78
#note This was the eleventh and final round of the day and I was absolutely exhausted-- nearly missing the bingo here. Was hoping to settle in to a nice easy game to end Day 1, but it was not to be.
>James: GOX 7K GOX +44 44
#note James looks just like Freddy Mercury!
>Carl: AAEELNO 9G ALOE +13 91
#note AEON. (-10) That's if I have the rack right. I may have had an M instead of an N, in which case OLEA or ALOOF sims best (-3).
>James: AHILTW 10F WITHAL +38 82
>Carl: AAEEJMN N8 .AJ +26 117
#note This sims even with JANE or AJEE 11C. I'm not crazy about opening a hard-to-block lane on Column O, but JANE/AJEE gives back easy points in the short term.
>James: EFIW 11C WIFE +25 107
>Carl: ACEEMNT 12B CETANE +36 153
>James: AGZ 10B ZAG +43 150
>Carl: EEIMNUV K10 .UV +12 165
#note MENU 13G wins the sim by a little bit, but all the options look pretty dismal. (-1.5)
>James: BEY 12I BE.Y +24 174
>Carl: EEGIMNY 13H GYM +28 193
#note Sim winner is MIEN 13G, threatining ENG plays at 14J, but this seemed harder for James to do anything with. Also worth considering (AI)Y(E)E G9, which I did not see. (-2)
>James: INQ B12 .INQ +30 204
>Carl: BEEIKNN H13 .IB +18 211
#note I thought sincerely about trading 7 here, but figured I was just tired, sleep-deprived and frustrated at going 6-4 on a day when I should have gone 8-2, and I feel like I'm just watching as this game slips away from me; James always seems to have a way to connect with the board, and how the hell is it that *Avery* never has a game like this or any of my other losses in a 48-game span? As it turns out, trade 7 sims a couple points higher than my play. My play sucks because it keeps a bad leave and leaves me extremely vulnerable if James has a bingo, which he does. Trading at least gives me a shot at ??SSSS. EEK 14I, which I absolutely hated, sims 2 points better than that, despite opening an easy lane on row 15 that I can't hit. I think Quackle overvalues this play because James is way more likely than chance to have an S on his rack. Sim winner is KN(AWE) C8, which I did not see. (-5)
>James: ?AELRRS 15H .RAwLERS +80 284
#note Best, and the only play to the TWS. James took a long time finding this, and I can see that the W is a counterintuitive letter with that rack. A nice find!
>Carl: EEKNNRV 13A V.E +26 237
#note KNAWE is still best because, unlike VIE, I'm not building my own tomb. That said, the plays sim about even, with VIE winning 6.46% and KNAWE at 6.60%. Also even with both plays is EVEN 13L, at 6.46%
>James: I 15B .I +11 295
>Carl: EKMNNPR -KMNP +0 237
#note The sim-winning play is PERM 7E, which is very vulnerable to parallel plays. If James bingos, it opens the board, but now I'm down two bingos. Of the exchanges, -KNNP is best. (-10).
>James: EHO 14M HOE +23 318
>Carl: EENOPRT L4 PRO.. +20 257
>James: AEIKLNS 7B ALKINES +67 385
>Carl: DEENOTU 5G DEUTE.ON +68 325
>James: DEORRU 4C DOURER +22 407
>Carl: DDNPSTT E3 P.ND.T +18 343
#note PUNDITS actually wins the sim because it plays out a little quicker (-3)
>James: ?IIMOOS 3G MOI +21 428
>Carl: ACDST N2 SCA.T +18 361
#note Best. Yeesh-- at least I did something right this game.
>James: ?IOS O9 IOnS +15 443
>James: (D) +4 447
