#player1 Gunther Gunther
#player2 Carl Carl
>Gunther: DEINW H4 WIDEN +26 26
#note Just as a heads up: this game was not my finest hour, but it was still pretty great.
>Carl: AADKLOP G4 APODAL +31 31
>Gunther: GMU F2 GUM +18 44
#note Round 2: Current Record: 0-1 -7
>Carl: KLNRSTY 5G ..NKY +28 59
#note Chickened out on PINKLY. (-5)
>Gunther: EW I5 .EW +25 69
>Carl: EILORST F9 ESTRIOL +63 122
>Gunther: ERZ J2 ZER. +37 106
>Carl: ABEIIRU 15A BURIA. +27 149
#note Or BAILIE 15C, which I missed. They sim about the same.
>Gunther: AFN K1 FAN +19 125
>Carl: EEILOTV 12A VETOE. +26 175
>Gunther: INV 3I V..IN +24 149
>Carl: IILORUY 1K .LOUR +27 202
#note Yuck! Sim winner is 6K OILY, which neutralizes column N more defensively. FLOUR isn't too far back, since it also semi-blocks plus takes out the triple, at considerable expensive to my leave. (-3)
>Gunther: CFIO 4L FOCI +32 181
>Carl: EIIJSXY 13B XI +31 233
#note Not even close. The correct play here is XYSTI C9. (-11)
>Gunther: CDHT 13E D.TCH +19 200
>Carl: EGIIJSY 2D JI.GY +17 250
>Gunther: ?AADGRS O3 D.AGRAmS +77 277
>Carl: AAEEEIS D1 A.EE +24 274
>Gunther: QT 1C Q.T +14 291
>Carl: AEEINOS 1H OE +21 295
#note Amazingly, N8 AEON wins the sim, increasing my win percentage by 10%. There's so much about this game that I don't understand. My guess is that AEON turns over two more tiles, going for the blank, while also restricting two bingo lanes.... but I'm down a tempo, and I don't see why I want to be doing that. Beside, AEINS is a really good leave... isn't it? Ah, this game is so weird. (-10 valuation, -10% win chances)
>Gunther: ?ABEMSU N8 BEAUMeS +83 374
>Gunther: ?ABEMSU -- -83 291
#note Wait! Don't look ahead yet. Find the best play now that you know Gunther's rack.
>Carl: AEINOOS I12 O.O +6 301
#note Once again, having perfect knowledge of my opponent's rack I make a terrible play. I see that if I play COO H13 as originally intended, I give back OUTBEAMS 15H. My play also takes out the next biggest bingo option: SUNBEAM. So clever, right? Wrong. What would a sorcerer do here? COO H13, as originally intended. Gunther plays OUTBEAMS, emptying the bag, and then I bingo out somewhere 63% of the time and win-- my best chance since Gunther has the blank. By contrast, OHO only wins 37%. This was an awesome game, but man, I have no idea how to play Scrabble. (-26% win chances)
>Gunther: MU J14 MU +20 311
#note You might be wondering: if Gunther really does figure to lose most of the time that he bingos, shouldn't he just forgo OUTBEAMS and go for a Nim ending (that is, be the first to play out)? If that is the case, then... well, COO is still correct, isn't it? It scores well and could induce a mistake, and maximizes my win chances when he does make that mistake. As it stands, I need something to go wrong for Gunther since he's more likely to bingo than I am.
>Carl: AEILNST 3C N. +4 305
#note On the right track by not bingoing, but ILEX B10 wins even more often. Also, no way is Gunther bingoing after I play NE.
>Gunther: B 6F B... +13 324
>Carl: AEILNST B11 L.. +10 315
#note I dunno what the hell I'm doing, because I wasted all my time on previous moves. BODES/ZERKS wins the game for me, and doesn't give back PLEX, which I didn't see. (-3,423,592)
>Gunther: P B10 P... +19 343
>Carl: AEHINST K9 SHEITAN +77 392
>Gunther: ?AEEIST B2 EASIEsT +69 412
#note No it isn't. This game is hard!
>Gunther: (R) +2 414
#note Somehow, we short-changed Gunther by ten points, and I won 404-392. Record after two rounds: 0-2, -19.
