#player1 Johnny_Utah Johnny Utah
#player2 Bond_Thomas_Bond Bond Thomas Bond
>Johnny_Utah: DDNRSST -DDNS +0 0
#note California Open Round 1. This is best.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: FOX 8G FOX +26 26
>Johnny_Utah: ALORSTW 7H WORT +23 23
#note H7 WO is apparently best. I considered that but didn't like keeping that many consonants. This is pretty close.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: AQ K5 QA. +24 50
>Johnny_Utah: AAAHLMS 9B HAMALAS +76 99
#note This was a truly odd play. Not only do I play a phony, I miss the WORTH spot to hook the phony onto. It was probably better I missed the WORTH hook because HAMALAS* may get challenged if I go there for a bunch more. First game jitters off of a long late flight into SFO. L7 SHAMAL for 38 is the best valid play.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: BEILV E7 VI.BLE +22 72
>Johnny_Utah: NNNORTU E4 NON...... +28 127
#note Best play! I was proud of this one.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: EEFL D12 FEEL +26 98
>Johnny_Utah: INORTTU C4 OUTTR.IN +59 186
>Johnny_Utah: INORTTU -- -59 127
#note This was ill-advised. Just do 8A OUT.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: DEPU 15A DUP.E +24 122
>Johnny_Utah: INORTTU L3 UNIT +21 148
#note F12 ROUT is worth considering too but I decided against it due to surplus of i's in the pool. This seems fine.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: EGGU 4C GU.GE +14 136
>Johnny_Utah: AEJORRT 8A JOT +37 185
#note This or JO in the same spot.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: ?DIIIVY 11E .IVIDItY +78 214
#note Beautiful find by Tom! I challenged and as I walked up to the computer I remembered this was good.
>Johnny_Utah: ADEORRS - +0 185
#note Unsuccessful challenge.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: ACDHNNS - +0 214
#note Dump 6.
>Johnny_Utah: ADEORRS 8K SAROD +34 219
#note This was a bad play. I instantly spotted ROAD/ORAD at H1 after I hit my clock. This play alone made the game much closer than it should have been. -11
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: CDER H1 CRED +38 252
>Johnny_Utah: BEELORT O1 REBOLTE. +86 305
>Johnny_Utah: BEELORT -- -86 219
#note I6 BOATEL. I thought this might be good but Tom quickly challenged.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: AACNT 2J TACAN +25 277
>Johnny_Utah: BEELORT C13 BO. +24 243
#note BOATEL still but this is pretty good. -3.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: HIIOPRY 7N HI +13 290
>Johnny_Utah: EELMRRT 3K M.TER +24 267
#note This or MUTE is best. Had to take this out.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: INW C1 WIN. +16 306
#note The play that swung the game to me!
>Johnny_Utah: AEILORY 1A LA.YER +48 315
#note Best play! This got me back into the game instantly.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: ENPT H11 .NEPT +24 330
#note Uh oh, I think Tom has the blank.
>Johnny_Utah: EEIKOOZ 14F ZI. +34 349
#note A really hard position! L10 OYEZ and 14F KEPI seems to have the highest win % but ZIP is one of the higher plays. I needed to score but I also needed to block and save a good play for my next turn. Hoping K10 stays open. OYEZ also gives back high scoring Z overlaps which is a point in favor of ZIP.
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: ?EGRSSU I11 .EnS +22 352
#note I dodge a huge bullet. Tom misses 13G GESTURES for the win! KEPI or OYEZ would have been better after all. This play also doesn't block J10 plays either.
>Johnny_Utah: AEEIKOO 10J KEA +39 388
#note Best play!
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: GRSU 6C RU.GS +10 362
#note Best play!
>Bond_Thomas_Bond: (EIOO) +8 370
#note I got lucky on this one. Should have been a loss. Final score recorded as 387-370.
