Player 1
#player1 Peter_Maas Peter Maas
#player2 Matthew_Larocque Matthew Larocque
>Peter_Maas: IVY 8H IVY +18 18
#note The last (and only) time I had played Peter was 10 years ago, funnily enough, in the Calgary Marathon.
>Matthew_Larocque: CIIMORT G7 OTIC +18 18
#note I liked the defense of OTIC.
>Peter_Maas: AY J8 .AY +17 35
>Matthew_Larocque: ?AIMORT F1 AMORIsT +66 84
#note This is actually a very deceiving rack. It only has two solutions, the other one being TRITOMA which doesn't play on this board. The only other playable bingo besides AMORIST is a disconnected nine: MORDACITY!
>Peter_Maas: FGN 1E F.NG +24 59
>Matthew_Larocque: CDIOPPR E3 POP +28 112
#note I probably would have played RIPCORD had I known it, I didn't like the leave of ICDR very much here.
>Peter_Maas: ADQ H5 QAD. +18 77
>Matthew_Larocque: CDHIRRW I3 WHIR +27 139
>Peter_Maas: AEEIRRS K9 RERAISE +71 148
>Matthew_Larocque: ?CDLNRZ 15J L.Z +22 161
#note 15J DEZINC 81 is the play I was trying to find. 15G ZINCED for 57 is probably just worth it as well. Perhaps I was too concerned with killing the E, this is a risky leave even with the blank. ZINC or CZAR a few rows higher score 30 with a lower risk of missing out on vowels.
>Peter_Maas: EJO J2 JOE +36 184
>Matthew_Larocque: ?ACDFNR D2 CAF +33 194
#note I didn't know FLANCARD.
>Peter_Maas: DEELNRU 13E UNDERL.E +62 246
>Matthew_Larocque: ?BDEINR M7 BINDERs +94 288
#note Great, I should be able to win now right?
>Peter_Maas: NOV 8L V.NO +33 279
>Matthew_Larocque: AEIOSTU 12F IOTA +15 303
#note This gets rid of vowels and prevents Peter from using the obvious place to score next turn. I did miss a tough find here though - N6 SINUATE for 26 which also sets up a second hotspot at O12.
>Peter_Maas: ADW K4 WAD +23 302
>Matthew_Larocque: AEKSSTU L1 KUES +46 349
>Peter_Maas: ILT 1L .ILT +24 326
>Matthew_Larocque: AEGGSTU N1 .UG +8 357
#note I had no idea how to manage this rack. I didn't know it at the time, but I needed to squeeze out every point I could, and this play fails to do that. I missed playing TEGU using the same letters for 15 points. I also missed N6 GENUA for 23. Even 11D GAG for 14 must be better. Rack balance just doesn't mean that much right now.
>Peter_Maas: TX H12 ..XT +33 359
#note So much for trying to play defense!
>Matthew_Larocque: AEGNOST N6 GO.E +15 372
#note GENOA in the same spot. This doesn't look like a huge error, but obviously looking back now, I see that my margin for error was smaller than I thought.
>Peter_Maas: EHLMS 14B HELMS +33 392
>Matthew_Larocque: AEEINST 15B ANIS +20 392
#note I can't count the number of times *LE has destroyed games for me. Every time. This is also a bad play because it just gives him an easy parallel that he won't ever miss. I ran out of time. There's a winning sequence here that I bet most people would struggle to find, even with time aplenty. Solution at the end.
>Peter_Maas: ABENOU 13B AB +24 416
>Matthew_Larocque: EET 2B TE. +10 402
#note I missed the only out, 6C TEES/POPE.
>Peter_Maas: ENOU I8 .OE +17 433
#note For some reason I thought he had gone out, and this caused me to go over on time.
>Matthew_Larocque: E K4 ...E +8 410
#note JEU is 10.
>Matthew_Larocque: (NU) +4 414
#note The win was playing L6 EAVE which also forms DE/ABO/ARENE, then playing INTIS/QADIS!
