>Rhonda_Reece: ?EGGIRS 8C dIGGERS +68 68
#note After the disastrous round 5, things were already looking bleak in the rematch!
>Matthew_Larocque: ABCEIMR E8 .AMB +18 18
#note I was totally expecting there to be a bingo here. Nada. IAMBIC would have been nice. I still didn't know much about Rhonda's play. So, I set up some hooks to see what happened.
>Rhonda_Reece: AEFL 7G FEAL +26 94

>Rhonda_Reece: EEW 12D WEE +22 116
>Matthew_Larocque: EEGISTT 2F TE.GITES +63 132
#note I forgot the anagram GRISETTE.
>Rhonda_Reece: DEIR 1L DIRE +28 144
>Matthew_Larocque: CJOSTVW 5E JOC. +34 166
>Rhonda_Reece: HNO 6D NOH +36 180
>Matthew_Larocque: OSSTVWY 13C WOST +32 198
>Rhonda_Reece: HNU 9I HUN +20 200
>Matthew_Larocque: ALNRSVY 10E .ARVY +25 223
#note I thought about going for JOCKEYS, but at what cost? What good plays exist keeping YS? 3J NAV is the only one on static choices, and that often leads to JOCKEYS getting blocked anyways.
>Rhonda_Reece: AOZ 1D ZOA +24 224
>Matthew_Larocque: DEILNSU K8 U.LINED +16 239
#note I literally just found out that VULN is a verb. Yikes. I was starting to get lost and wanted to avoid too much time wasting.
>Rhonda_Reece: EIPQU 3B PIQUE +35 259
>Matthew_Larocque: LNOSUVY 13J L.VO +14 253
#note After PIQUE went down, and I didn't have an I on my rack, I started to unravel. Obviously this is a stinker of a play, doesn't even take an S. I should make a more aggressive play if I'm so worried about the Q spot. 13K ENVOY is better. 14I VODUN setting up my S is extreme, but surely still better than LEVO.
>Rhonda_Reece: DMOT 2A TOM +22 281
>Matthew_Larocque: DLNSUXY L1 ..XY +30 283
#note I have another chance to go for JOCKEYS, but again I wasn't convinced it was worth it. I can't get enough turnover, and something like 14M XU could backfire horribly.
>Rhonda_Reece: AABERT 1A AB +25 306
>Matthew_Larocque: DILNNSU 4C LI +31 314
#note Shocked I beat her to this.
>Rhonda_Reece: DENP 8K .PEND +33 339
>Matthew_Larocque: ?DENNSU C8 .UN +3 317
#note No bingos! And I chickened out of VENDUS! I really thought it needed at least one E. Despite this only scoring 3 points, it actually performs well in the sim sitting around 3rd place. 14B DEN has a clear margin of victory. The trouble is that my two floaters are N and D, and I have DNN on my rack. I knew that, even if they stayed open, my bingos would be more limited than I'd be comfortable with. This is why VENDUS would have been better for me - I don't have perfect word knowledge. Even if it wins less (which I don't even know if it actually does) it's the easier path to take, and might win more often for someone who doesn't know every bingo.
>Rhonda_Reece: AFOR L11 FA.OR +36 375
>Matthew_Larocque: ?DEINOS O8 .OwNSIDE +80 397
#note As I mentioned, there's surprisingly few bingos. I failed to see ANODISED/ADENOIDS/INDORSED, the only bingos that don't involve playing to the TWS. While I know those words and I could solve them individually without a blank, I could not get it done under extreme time pressure and with a blank. Once I went into overtime, I pretty much had to look for a TWS bingo. There's 3, but they all require the blank to be a W! Not the easiest puzzle. By the time I found this, I had to deduct 50 points of my score! I simply wasn't up to the challenge.
>Matthew_Larocque: (AAAERT) +12 409
#note 359-375 final recorded score.
