>David_Koenig: BEIMOTX 8H EMBOX +48 48
#note A small but clear sim winner over BEMIX by about a point and a half. Keeping the BEMIXT hook is nice, but BEMIX also slots the E for scores onto the double-letters for him, and there's a decent chance he will have a T for BEMIXT himself. Also, the fact that I'm already one letter into the EMBOXING extension provides benefit, and IT is a stronger leave than OT. Starting with BEMIXT is not as good. The two point sacrifice to keep a more balanced leave is more than worth it.
>Harshan_Lamabadusuriya: OW 7K WO +19 19
>David_Koenig: ?EIIJNT 8H .....INg +54 102
#note Before Harshan played WO, I would have happily played JIB for 28 points leaving ?EINT. However, after his play, I couldn't do anything that good with the J. I figured it was worth burning the blank, both because I'm scoring 30+ points more than with any other play and because it sets up JIN for the next turn. Championship player is not crazy about the choice, preferring M5 JIN by about 9 points. I ran a two ply sim on the position, and JIN still wins, but the valuation difference is only about 5 points in its favor, which seems more reasonable. It turns out his next play actually blocked JIN, but on this board that seems to be an unlikely event. I suppose the way to think about this is that if I take 54 for EMBOXING and then usually score 26 for JIN that is 80 points over two turns. Whereas if I play JIN for 18, I usually hit a bingo next turn, though it isn't expected to be a high scoring bingo. Let's say the bingo scores on average about 70. That's a net score of about 88 points. You'd still have to consider the difference in his expected score after my EMBOXING vs JIN, but that gives a rough idea of why JIN might be a handful or so of points better.
>Harshan_Lamabadusuriya: EINRTTU O1 UTTERIN. +74 93
>David_Koenig: CEIIJTT 5J JITTE. +26 128
#note Not much to think about here. The clearly best play for scoring well and clearing up the duplicates on my rack.
>Harshan_Lamabadusuriya: ELOOY 9H LOOEY +39 132
>David_Koenig: ACDIINO 10D CONIDIA +80 208
#note The bingo is best, of course, but the OXYACID extension is a nice one to be aware of.
>Harshan_Lamabadusuriya: AEIMRST D5 MATRI.ES +76 208
>David_Koenig: ?ALORSZ 2J ZeALO. +68 276
#note He blocked a very pretty ALCORZAS bingo, but this play is as good or better than a bingo. I score 68 and keep a very strong RS leave, a luxury you don't usually have when making a bingo-like score.

>David_Koenig: ABGGQUV B10 V.G +15 353
#note Timing, timing, timing. B2 QUAGS was my natural play before this move, both to take out B column bingos and clear my Q, but now there was no rush to play it. There's a lot more value in taking out the triple-triple line and the dangerous B10-14 scoring lane. Meanwhile, I am likely to still have QUAGS on the next turn and there is a high probability of drawing A8 QUARE.
>Harshan_Lamabadusuriya: EPU E3 PUE. +20 303
#note A clever play by Harshan that sets up the SPUER hook.
>David_Koenig: ABCEGQU 8A QUA.E +42 395
#note There's a case to be made that B2 QUAGS is better, both to avoid disaster racks on the next turn and to take out bingos hooking SPUER.
>Harshan_Lamabadusuriya: EFI C11 .IFE +24 327
>David_Koenig: BCGNORY 15A BOYG +50 445
#note Harshan's WIFE play was a logical way of creating more volatility for a comeback, but my rack was fortuitously ready for it.
>Harshan_Lamabadusuriya: ADELPRU N7 U.DERLAP +78 405
>David_Koenig: ACDFINR O13 DIF +28 473
#note Careful! He could have TAKAHES/UNDERLAPS to win. This play seals the win.
>Harshan_Lamabadusuriya: AAK 3C KA.A +20 425
#note I had outs of SCRANS and CRANES. Harshan's play cleverly blocks both.
>David_Koenig: ACNRS G3 SAN.R +19 492
#note Harshan currently only has one out of 11K THERE, but I couldn't figure out a good way to block it that didn't give him another out. For example 12K CARL gives ETHE, and 11K SCAR gives SHEET. So instead I took what points I could, took away 2F plays with the H, and forced him to just go out. He cannot C stick me, because of CAG and CAD. My play is not bad, but 10M REC is 3 points better, with the best endgame being M12 EH for him, followed by G3 SANE for me.
