>Jason_Keller: ?AJMRST 8D JuMARTS +96 96
>David_Koenig: EEIINRU I7 E.UI +6 6
#note According to Quackle it's a very close call between exchange EIU, IURE, and ETUI here. IURE seems to slightly edge ETUI on sim. There are probably a couple of reasons for this. IURE keeps the S unobstructed and by partially obstructing the bonus squares next to the A in JUMARTS it decreases the chance of parallel plays by him mucking up the board and getting easy points. On the other hand, ETUI doesn't block the S that much. Many J1 bingos will still play. And it creates an S hook that might come in handy later while IURE does not. The difference in sim between these is only about half a point. I consider it negligible.
>Jason_Keller: ?AGNORS 11C jARGONS +69 165
#note Ugh. Not what I was hoping for.
>David_Koenig: EINNRRU 9E RUN +12 18
#note Best. No spot for RUNNIER. Taking out this spot is good not only to milk what points I can but also to take away a good scoring spot from him.
>Jason_Keller: EW 7F EW +24 189
>David_Koenig: AAEINPR J1 PANARIE. +66 84
>Jason_Keller: EINOSTT 1H NE.OTIST +149 338
#note After losing the previous three games, I haven't done anything wrong in this one but I'm down by 250 after three turns. How could I be upset at this? I was just amused at what the tile gods had in for me.
>David_Koenig: CEEIOOP 5G OPO.ICE +22 106
#note This is one of those situations where I've got no realistic shot to win, but Quackle thinks a few moves have a minuscule winning percentage, which is a meaningless measure here. It sorts the sim results by win %. You should ignore that and look at valuation (equity) instead. OPORICE sims best, but 12A COOEE is just about as good.
>Jason_Keller: DEGHOT 3G THO.GED +28 366
>David_Koenig: CEELOUZ F11 .LOZE +35 141
#note At a normal score, playing ZE or COZE on row 2 would be better, but here GLOZE is better for maximum volatility.
>Jason_Keller: AEILLRU 2B RUELLIA +76 442
>David_Koenig: ABCETUW 12B WAB +25 166
#note Again, clearly the right play for volatility.
>Jason_Keller: AVY B12 .AVY +26 468
>David_Koenig: CEEINTU 15A C.TE +30 196
#note Best.
>Jason_Keller: IMQ C1 Q.IM +30 498
#note At this point I have played flawlessly and am down 302 points. I also have six vowels on my rack.
>David_Koenig: AEINOOU B2 .OUE +10 206
#note Who knows what to do here? There are only 5 vowels remaining of the 22 tiles he might have, so I figured there was a good shot that he might have seven consonants and be unable to make a play down the A column. I didn't think I could afford to wait for the lone S for SWAB to hit that line. Furthermore, I chose this over EUOI B4 for a few reasons: (1) With so many consonants in the pool, keeping the extra vowel could be helpful. (2) It is significantly easier for him to take out the A8 triple word score after EUOI. (3) If I do draw an S-ending bingo, ROUE makes sure not to interfere with it.
>Jason_Keller: EENVY A4 YEVEN +59 557
#note Of course.
>David_Koenig: ABDINOR G13 BO +25 231
#note I finally have a bingo but it doesn't play. What's best here? I have no idea. But my play is reasonable, both to take away easy scores off the Z for him and because it might help ensure that EN- starting words on row 15 don't get blocked.
>Jason_Keller: IKL H13 ILK +38 595
>David_Koenig: ADFGINR 10I .F +13 244
#note I missed that there was a place to fish off the F for one more point at 7E, but the fish is the right thing to do. I can still bingo.
>Jason_Keller: AFHIT K10 FAITH +31 626
>David_Koenig: ADGINRS O1 .RADINGS +86 330
>David_Koenig: (DDX) +24 354
#note So a minor error on playing IF instead of FEW, both because it scored one point less and because it made it easy for him to dump a few more tiles for a good score in the endgame. But otherwise I played a virtually flawless game, and the result was a 272 point loss, by far my worst of the tournament.
