#player2 Paul_Avrin Paul Avrin
>Samuel_Kaplan: GILNOST -L +0 0
#note 2nd missed bingo this tourney. TIGLONS is the play. Exchanging L and exchangint T are close if I'm gonna miss TIGLONS. But still, this is not acceptable.
>Paul_Avrin: MUV 8G VUM +16 16
>Samuel_Kaplan: BGINOST H7 B.G +6 6
#note Wasn't sure what to do here. I didn't want to play off too many tiles here as this rack had potential. Should have done BO F7 as Paul would take out the O hook and partially block the BUGS hook that I set up. This play does force Paul to take a long time on his next move as he clearly is not keeping an S after VUM.
>Paul_Avrin: OX F8 OX +18 34
>Samuel_Kaplan: ILMNOST 10C LIMO +20 26
#note I saw MOL but I wanted to keep the BUGS hook alive and open up other columns. This is 10th.
>Paul_Avrin: AP 9D PA. +20 54
>Samuel_Kaplan: AELNSTY E9 ..YL +18 44
#note Didn't even bother looking for bingoes here. SA(PI)ENTLY thru the PI would have been sick. I considered E(PI)NASTY which does fork the board nicely given my deficit. But it seems that Paul has been grooming his rack the last 2 turns so I wanted to just set up my S again. Q agrees. 2nd best play.
>Paul_Avrin: ILR 12C RI.L +8 62
>Samuel_Kaplan: AELNOST C10 .O.N +8 52
#note No home for ETALONS or TOLANES. 8th best play. I still thought he was grooming his rack. Perhaps if I had done BO 7H, and he bingoes, I can get lanes back easily.
>Paul_Avrin: ER I6 RE. +11 73
>Samuel_Kaplan: AADELST 5I TAD +14 66
#note Clearly he's got a T when he played this very quickly. Not sure that playing along row 5 was the right idea. I should have distracted him with a play along Column B with DAL or something. This did not accomplish much besides another lane for my S.
>Paul_Avrin: DEIRSTU L3 DUSTIER +73 146
#note I guess there was nothing I could do to stop him from bingoing.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AAAELRS K8 AA +6 72
#note 2nd best play according to Q although AA at M2 gives back so many more points.
>Paul_Avrin: BFI J9 FIB +16 162
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?AELORS 12H LASsOER +73 145
#note This was also played fairly quickly. He told me he had the blank but not an S when I asked him after the game. He definitely had something so the only way to keep the bottom the most open long term was to play at 12H and I did that. All plays at 12H give back an S hook, but I felt the board would be more easily closed if I play anything at M9. Q agrees with my play here.
>Paul_Avrin: NP M11 P.N +10 172
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACEEFIT M1 FEAT +22 167
#note Paul was obviously close to a bingo. FACETE would have been much better for score as he's gonna hit me hard somehow.
>Paul_Avrin: ?DENRSU O6 gERUNDS +82 254
#note Paul makes a great play to not give back Row 15.
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACCEINR H12 .AIC +18 185
#note Good. I keep the F open and get the bottom going.
>Paul_Avrin: Q 14G Q. +11 265
>Samuel_Kaplan: CEEGNNR B12 GEN +16 201
#note Don't know why Q suggests N1 ENG as best play- I can't just let Paul end the game by taking out Row 15. I stand by my play.
>Paul_Avrin: OWY A13 YOW +35 300
>Samuel_Kaplan: CDEEINR 1K IN.ER +27 228
#note I did not know REDFIN. Man I need to study. 7th best play. Definitely needed to play thru the F as Paul was gonna somehow block Row 15 as well as take out the dangerous scoring spot along Row 14.
>Paul_Avrin: AEOTV 14J OVATE +26 326
>Samuel_Kaplan: CDEEIKZ J2 ZED. +34 262
#note Best play. These lanes are also gonna be hard for him to block.
>Paul_Avrin: EW 2M .WE +24 350
>Samuel_Kaplan: CEIKNTT 15F TI.K +21 283
#note Best play again. It would be too little too late though.
>Paul_Avrin: JO 3H JO. +11 361
>Samuel_Kaplan: ACEIINT H1 TA. +30 313
#note I'm glad I found a way to cut spread after a not-so-great start. This play is best and obvious.
>Paul_Avrin: EGHHOSU 15N HO +20 381
>Samuel_Kaplan: CEIIN 1D INCI.E +9 322
#note And the tiles he has helps my spread further. This game was a little better and I was definitely more patient in letting opportunities come to me. Given the board, should I have played EPINASTY if I'm gonna miss SAPIENTLY? I wasn't sure if 16 points was worth it to blow up the rack although the board was clumped when I had the AELNSTY rack.
