>smylie: AEILNSZ 9E NAS.LIZE +69 69
#note kinda ridiculous how bad my focus was here - somehow failed to notice that N(A)SALIZE scores 10 more (only focused on the positional difference, assumed score was the same), and also missed my non-bingo options. I saw ZA and figured NASALIZE was better, but missed ZINE, AZINE. N(A)SALIZE still looks like the play cause ZINE isn't good for my bingo % but still gives back quite a bit (I would prob do AZINE over ZINE to make two S hooks). NASALIZE does gives back quite a bit more so it's somewhat close, but still looks preferable to AZINE. I also misevaluated N(A)SALIZE vs. NAS(A)LIZE - the former only creates one big spot whereas the latter creates more spots, which does make me average more next turn, but still it looks worth it to just be a bit more short term defensive... let alone the 10 point difference. very symbolic start to our 7 game set
>sokol: ?AEGIMR 8A GERMInA. +94 134
#note I didn't like NASALIZER* but was unsure, though I knew NASALISER*. I had recently checked it though, so I should have been more confident. Jackson liked it, but perhaps he would have come around to challenging it.
>smylie: DEFINOV 8L FIVE +51 120
>sokol: CCLMNNS M7 C.S +28 162
#note I played this very fast. Perhaps too fast. I saw L(I)MN and then this, and realizing how many more points this was, played it quickly. Saw that I could actually hit CLANSMEN next turn if I'm extremely lucky, which I assumed I would be after drawing ERIA? to GM. L(I)MN looks very close, as well as exchanging keeping CNS. Yes, this is a scoring spot and I don't want to deal with NASALIZER* being valid or not, since I will always have to challenge or hold and slowly lose confidence as my time ticks down. Since this was our first game of the series and I only needed to win 2 of 6 -- as we were originally scheduled for 6 games -- there might have been a subconscious attempt to protect my psyche here. L(I)MN sims better, and since often my play next turn will be C(I)S or something along those lines, it's probably a better play. #questionable
>smylie: DNNOORU K9 .OON +26 146
>sokol: BCLMNNS J8 L.MB +28 190
#note CLIMB was not noticed in time, CNNS has some bingo synergy but CNNS is still 3.1 worse statically than NNS

Josh: yeah I was quite annoyed when I hit my clock. Being a native English speaker definitely didn't help me here, as LIMB did not very easily turn into CLIMB in my head. I have made this same mistake before. I played too fast and there is an inferior stratategem my brain uses when looking at similar positions to these. #findingmedium
>smylie: ADNORSU L11 DUO +18 164
#note wow A(nA)NDROUS! cool word. considered UDO/XU to be more aggressive, but I don't think I need to take that aggressive a line yet, I still have quite a few options available and UDO really sucks when he has the hook
>sokol: ACIINNS A1 INCASIN. +86 276
#note kind of ridiculous already
>smylie: AGHNNRS G11 HANG +23 187
#note didn't see GNASH 10B but I prefer HANG at this score, being bingo heavy and opening a big lane
>sokol: BDEIIUW 12D DEW.. +32 308
#note I did not see the best rack-cleanup options here, C8 (R)UBIED or 13B BEDUI(N). Again a lack of ability to generate certain patterns that I must attempt to eliminate. (R)UBIED looks pretty good. #findingsmall
>smylie: NORRSTW 15D WORST +45 232
#note big oversight here, I need to play 11B TROW. I somehow was not aware that I had the case S, and even without that awareness I shouldn't be so quick to pounce on this spot, TROW is the thematic play at this score.
>sokol: ABEIIUY M12 BYE +31 339
#note Quackle likes 14E YA(G)I mainly because of the remaining tile pool and the far more workable and salvageable leave. #questionable
>smylie: AJNORTU D4 JORU. +28 260
#note yeah idk why I did this, I did see J(E)U but I guess I underestimated how much it bingoes here. it's good with the C and E available, and generally just far better for the board. I hated what JORUM did to the board, making the comeback sooo much harder. yet.... I didn't just play JEU which has two major advantages, just takes an 8 point sacrifice. JORUM does okay in the sim but it's a really short-sighted play.
>sokol: AIIOOU -ADEGIOO +0 339
#note I don't remember exactly what I had, just that I had AIIUOO, probably with an E as well. I considered A(G)IO 14F but didn't think it scored enough.
>smylie: ADENOTU E2 UDON +23 283
#note tough position here, and now thanks to the exchange I'm getting back in one bingo range, so it's no longer my absolute goal to go all in on bingoing twice (and thus going all in on bingoing immediately). I didn't see TAUON E1 which was the type of play I was looking for - make a decent lane on rows 1/2, scores decently, keep a good enough bingo leave. UDO and DUO don't score very well (letting him outrun my one bingo) and UDO gives back quite a bit. That's why I settled on UDON, but it seems like a worse version of TAUON. I also prefer ODE, which I didn't consider. It is also well worth considering, but looks slightly worse than TAUON.

>smylie: AEFOTTV 11A FOVEA +29 312
>sokol: AEEIRRT A11 .ERIA +27 396
#note I also considered A(F)REET, but IR can go a lot wronger than ERT in this spot. I'm glad I didn't autopilot to the higher-scoring, less fishy play.
>smylie: ?EHPQTT 2C PH.T +11 323
#note idk quack likes exchangeing QT, EHPT? is great for hitting massive bingoes, but Josh will know to block the only huge lane, the O column. I could do B13 ETH to keep the u open on row 2, but I'm not convinced that's gonna win the game if I hit that. PHUT doesn't do well in a sim but at least I can see it winning sometimes with optimal play by josh. maybe I'm being overly pessimistic
>sokol: DEIORTU 1F EDITOR +23 419
#note I took a long time to see this obvious play. I struggle to see words like EDITOR. Still, this was perfect, since it scored, left only 1 in the bag which severely limits Jackson's fishing options and possibly endgame damage, and I keep the U, which should threaten at least one Q play on column O, forcing Jackson to block for almost nothing, effectively losing him the game because of how far he is behind.
>smylie: ?EILQTY I1 .E +2 325
#note nothing seems to win, but this goes for an A draw for massive QuALITY and (E)QuALITY. there's a tiny chance he'd miss one of them or something or just play something quickly. He can outrun them by playing GUITAR or GRIPT.
>sokol: AAGIPRU O4 AURA. +6 425
#note really wasted a lot of time here because I really thought there was a word in my rack that I was missing. I was indeed not seeing PIRAGUA, but I am very fortunate that it didn't play. After not being sure of SPURGALL in Lake George, I really need to review all of the AGPRU words. I actually laid down PAGURIA with (TE)G for a second, and then pulled it back. PAGURIAN is good, which was half of the cause of my confusion. This endgame was likely as suspenseful for Jackson as reading this monologue was for you at home. Playing GIP 3I is best, as I get AURA for 13 with (R)A(P) and he only gets (E)QuITY.
