Player 1
#player1 Jason_Li Jason Li
#player2 Johnny_Utah Johnny Utah
>Jason_Li: ?INPRRY - +0 0
#note Jason traded two tiles here. I remember Jason best from my memorable 2018 New Orleans tournament which was the one I played with a sling and a broken wrist. I beat Jason with an out bingo and collected 40 points from him to win 432-429 in one of the most bizarre finishes to a Scrabble game I've seen.
>Johnny_Utah: GHIIPRZ 8F PHIZ +36 36
#note Best play.
>Jason_Li: ACLT 9H TALC +21 21
#note I overdrew after PHIZ. Jason had the choice between throwing back a B, an O, or a T. He threw back the O which was probably smart due to the lack of vowels to play through on this board.
>Johnny_Utah: ABDGIRT K4 BARDI. +22 58
#note Jason gave me DIRTBAG but with no place to play it. My play sims closely with a few others. 10I GI seems to be best by a little bit. I also was trying to bait Jason into a challenge since BARDIC is a little obscure. He held but didn't challenge. -3.5?
>Jason_Li: EMRT L2 TREM +24 45
>Johnny_Utah: CDDEGLT 8K .DLED +27 85
#note Best play.
>Jason_Li: AANPRT M7 P.ANTAR +26 71
>Johnny_Utah: CEGINST F7 S.ECTING +73 158
#note Best play and only bingo. I immediately spotted SPECTING but was only 70% sure, looked for something else and spent 4 minutes talking myself in and out and finally back into SPECTING. Jason was initially sure of it, but started questioning it when I spent 4 minutes on this turn. He challenged.
>Jason_Li: EGHLNOU - +0 71
#note Unsuccessful challenge! I also screwed up the challenge by hitting the clear button instead of the judge button initially and not silencing my phone. Tim O'Hara texted me right when this challenge was happening!
>Johnny_Utah: ?EEGKLW 12L W.KE +24 182
#note 12L GAWK is 8 better. Not a huge mistake, but AWAKE plays could obscure my bingos. -8
>Jason_Li: AINOQU E2 QUINOA +32 103
#note Down by over a bingo, Jason needs to open the board and create lines which he does here.
>Johnny_Utah: ?EGIILR 11D RE.ILInG +82 264
#note Best play!
>Jason_Li: AJOS 2J JO.AS +56 159
>Johnny_Utah: BFOORSU 1M FOB +31 295
#note Best play!
>Jason_Li: UX D4 XU +38 197
>Johnny_Utah: EOORSUV D11 .OVER +18 313
#note I saw H11 LOVER and was very close to making that play. However, I decided ROVER was saved because it would allow me to block column B if Jason tried to open. I would still do ROVER again.
>Jason_Li: EFW C5 FEW +19 216
>Johnny_Utah: EGOSUUV 13B GU. +14 327
#note No way am I doing UVEOUS O10 with a blank out. This seems great with a 100+ point lead.
>Jason_Li: EOTT H11 .OTTE +18 234
>Johnny_Utah: EHOSSUV O12 .VES +21 348
#note Not doing B6 HOVE for reasons described last turn. My play takes out row 15 bingos. if Jason bingos, I should have a lot of snapaback.
>Jason_Li: ?AAEILR B8 LAIRA.Es +70 304
#note Only bingo but I am still in the clear.
>Johnny_Utah: AHNOOSU A7 NAH +29 377
#note Best according to Championship player. 100% to win.
>Jason_Li: DEIINOY F1 YIN +23 327
>Johnny_Utah: EOOOSUY N14 YO +22 399
#note RYES 3L is clearly best. I was under 30 seconds at this point and blew a lot of spread on this play. Only spread at this point but still my biggest mistake of the game.
>Jason_Li: DEIMN O3 MINDE. +11 338
#note Best play! Jason still goes out after RYES with O5 MINDED or MIDDEN.
>Jason_Li: (OOEUS) +10 348
#note Another well played game excluding the last turn.
