#note js: this is not a word cd: yeah, i wanted to just play POUCH but i didn't like keeping ALL. i didn't think of HAUL I7, pretty straightforward. i spent a lot of time iterating subwords through P and R etc, gotta always get better at anagramming. -6.5 #findingmedium

#note looks kinda close with TRANQS, he took a while on earlier moves so I thought he might have a blank, and so didn't want to open TR lanes. this sims a bit ahead anyways, the board is so bad for scoring that it's not good to give one big spot

#note i think this is mostly OK, but i don't like opening an S lane. quackle just likes XU or even burning the blank with REaNNEX! -3 - i have a lot of draws for tinkerer, or a bunch of 7s hooking AJAR. nice possibilities. #strategysmall

#note vowel heavy pool so this fish works well, 26v 25c. that being said, exchanging down to NST? or GNS? looks a bit better, since my bingoes score far more than after VANG. VANG blocks my big M column lane which I can use to score well for a bingo or even a non-bingo if I miss my fish. Exchanging looks better than VANG by a couple points

#note i was pretty close to playing TETRAXON# for some reason but i luckily talked myself out of it

#note TONIGHTS is 80, I should probably go ahead and play that. he took a while on REANNEX so I thought he might have the other blank, but 5 points is still helpful for outrunning. I did want to keep a tighter board since I felt like I could outmanoeuvre. not sure.

#note at this point I felt like a blank was pretty likely on his rack, and with the vowel heavy pool that makes GIBED very scary. I raise his bingo% by about 1.6x, his range is better than avg but the factor I raise it by should be fairly consistent. that being said I'm not in an amazing position to outrun so GIBED is a bit necessary. If I had another 10 points I would not do GIBED. I was close to doing HIED or BRED at 14a, which are about 10 worse for outrunning but don't give up bingoes, really only VANGS, which is good for me. I could also fish with WEB which hits close to 50%. With just ? implied, GIBED has the highest win% but lower valuation than WEB or DIB. I also considered DIB, but I felt like if I was gonna fish and concede outrunning I should just do WEB. Not sure here, I really agonized over GIBED vs. other plays, but felt like I wanted to keep my outscoring hopes alive, and it was worth it to give up more bingoes. not sure.

#note hated RUSHY, I don't see how that wins. my only hope after RUSHY is for him to have literal drek and somehow I outscore? even then It's realllly unlikely, it's more likely he'd have to miss the 15 lane and I hit it. I felt like it was better to take my chances with hitting that lane, rather than score and still have to hit it. YAP goes for a 1/15 EI draw for RUSHIEST, and hopefully distracts him with the A column. I can also draw stuff on the N column. Thoughts are welcome!
>cesar: EEFILOT 14A FLEET +27 371
#note js: sick block cd: i think FEET/FETE are better; i saw the bag was a bit vowel heavy. i can't play FILO - i didn't spot it, but i didn't look very hard there, since bingos there are pretty hard to hit. an 8 making ABALONES would absolutely kill me. my hope with playing FLEET was that if he bingoed i could dump some vowels for pts (like AI) but i don't even have an A. so yeah FEET/FETE are better, oops. maybe i was also going for an S.

#note thought about the F(e) fish, which hits HOUSERS and GURSHES. i also thought SMUSHER* was good. I was pretty confident this was phony, but I hated my options with the FE fish, since either he can block and outright win, or try to outrun and do that very consistently. Again he could have drek with IIIII out, but I'm going down 68, leaving 10 in the bag, and he'll make a play leaving 7 or fewer in the bag, going up at least 80. He'll have tempo in the endgame, and it felt like too much of a stretch for all this to happen and for me to hit the fish. so this phony works really well, it's really hard to challenge. I open the a column and leave the N column, I have to hit one of them. Not a great chance, but seems far more likely than the route of FE.

#note js: interesting position here. he has to worry about being outrun with stuff like RESOW N2. Q likes IONISE best, emptying the bag. It does get outrun sometimes. I feel like 6A NAOI is good though, since it goes up by enough to outrun pretty consistently, and also reduces my fishing options. the problem with ATONIC is that leaving 1 in the bag and both the N and A columns open lets me fish a tile to try and hit a bingo (as I ended up doing). by either emptying the bag (ionise) or blocking one of the lanes (naoi), he can prevent me from being able to fish into unblockable bingoes. NAOI seems to do a slightly better job of outrunning, but I'm not positive. cd: yes i was worried about getting outrun if i do ionise and draw garbage. jackson is totally right about ATONIC. i spent a long time trying to block on the left side, but i failed to spot that i could hook AH for some reason. i guess focus isn't perfect yet. i could do INIA/NAOI there. scrabble is hard, i was getting nervous at this point and i hated SURFHEAD but couldn't challenge it. fwiw, his bingo % after ATONIC is about 8-9%, and he should have close to a random rack, so i didn't think he would hit it, but i can cut that down a lot with 6A INIA and yes, block his ability to fish effectively.
