>Samuel_Kaplan: ?DEHLOO 8G DOH +14 14
#note This was the last game of the Manhattan tournament where I was in the top division with a pack of wolves as half the field was rated over 1900 going into this one. (I was rated 1551).

Having said that, I whiffed on 3 bingoes to start this one: sHOOLED, HOlLOED, and tOEHOLD. Not the start I wanna have against a 2 time national champion.
>Joel_Sherman: ALORSTU J2 TORULAS +69 69
>Samuel_Kaplan: ?EELNNO 2D NONELi.E +59 73
#note This turn wasn't much better. At a minimum I should have at least seen LEONiNE 7A or 9A. I would eventually get punished for this not great play. ENNObLE(R) 4C is the play. I suck.
>Joel_Sherman: HOW K5 HOW +35 104
>Samuel_Kaplan: AIIJNQT E1 J.INT +24 97
#note Quackle puts 1D AJI at the top. Not sure I agree with that as turnover is important with the Q in hand. Having said that, exchanging IJQ is also reasonable. 24 points was too many to pass up tho.
>Joel_Sherman: ?DIIORX H1 e.IXIR +60 164
#note I asked Joel what he was keeping and he told me DO. I'm not sure I would have thought of this play. 60 points without making the board too volatile and having a 67 point lead is a nicer play over tRIOXID 7B for 73.
>Samuel_Kaplan: AIIKPQS G5 QAI. +28 125
#note At least I got this play right. I saw 1K PIKIS, PIKAS, and PAIKS, but the Q needed to go. This play also set up my S nicely without telegraphing one.
>Joel_Sherman: EORU D4 EURO +14 178
>Samuel_Kaplan: GIKPSST 8A KIPS +39 164
#note Best play again! This keeps me in the game and I now have 2 different regions of the board to bingo with.
>Joel_Sherman: DEFGI 1K FIDGE +38 216
>Samuel_Kaplan: AEGPRST 6F G.. +8 172
#note Unbelievable. Cannot believe I actually missed my spot for PARGETS at L6 as well as GRAPIEST at B4. Yuck yuck yuck.

At least if I'm gonna miss bingoes, I made the 2nd best fishing play behing G1 P(E)G. But still, at top levels, this is just plain bad.
>Joel_Sherman: AEEV M1 .EAVE +18 234
>Samuel_Kaplan: AENPRST H8 .PERANTS +83 255
#note Got this play right thankfully. Right back in this game!
>Joel_Sherman: ACEMO C8 .OMACE +26 260
>Samuel_Kaplan: ABDEEIR A3 BIDAR.EE +66 321
#note 2nd best play. Cool bingo but BEADIER at L6 is the play. 2nd time this game I spaced out on Column L.
>Joel_Sherman: ATU L6 TAU +13 273
>Samuel_Kaplan: DELTTVY B4 DEY +34 355
#note 4th best play. 4 consonant leaves aren't ideal but 12 points is too many to pass up which is why I played DEY B4 over D(A)VY 11B. V(A)TTED 12G would have gotten me out of this mess.
>Joel_Sherman: AW I8 .AW +20 293
>Samuel_Kaplan: CLMRTTV -CLMTV +0 355
#note Exchanging was obviously the play here. I decided to keep RT with the open A, N, T, and S in OPERANTS. It also gave me the best chance to potentially hit a bingo from the U in TAU, the E in DEAVE, or the E in FIDGE. Joel thought it was fine to keep RT but I'd like to know other people's thoughts on this play.
>Joel_Sherman: ABEFILS 14E SIF.ABLE +71 364
#note Phony. It looked plausible to me. Hard to challenge off. This is another silly mistake that I made this game.
>Samuel_Kaplan: GNORTUY L10 GURN.Y +28 383
#note Missed NUG(A)TORY 12E. This would have won the game for me. It is the only 8 in this rack. My play is 5th best. I definitely wanted to shed the G as it is not a very good tile to have especially in pre-endgame situations.

As the guys on Sports Center would say, "C'mon man!"
>Joel_Sherman: IMNOTVZ 13B V.NOM +16 380
#note This play wins the game for Joel as he not only blocks my only out play but guarantees him one. Well played Joel!
>Samuel_Kaplan: CLOT 10F CL.. +15 398
>Joel_Sherman: ITZ M9 ZIT +27 407
#note And that's a wrap for this one. This game was very winnable but several mistakes cost me this one. Whiffing on 3 bingoes on the opening play, missing ENNObLE(R), whiffing on Column L twice, not challenging off SIFTABLE* (looked plausible), and missing NUG(A)TORY were my undoing.

If I wanna have any chance of competing with top players, I have GOT to get these plays right.
