#note oof
>Austin: ?ADEORT 1A OuTDARE. +83 175
>Jesse: MNOOOOX N9 OXO +28 252
#note I thought for awhile on this play. it sets up really easy J plays for 80+ points. when Austin bingos this turn, his bingos will hit harder. at the same time, it also kills an S hook, blocks the E, and possibly allows me to shut the board down next turn. Also, there are no good spots to play the X next turn. Therefore, I decided that I had to ditch the X this turn and absorb the damage if Austin has a huge play.
>Austin: AEEHJNS M9 JANES +69 244
>Jesse: ?EMNOOW L10 MOW +41 293
#note Austin is almost all the way back from a 132-point deficit! unlucky for him, I draw my first blank of the finals. I looked for bingos for awhile (and I think I found OWNSOMES) but much stronger just to keep the blank and wait. Q thinks I can also play WOMEN here, which makes some sense with four Ns and 6 Es unseen, but I wanted to minimize my chances of drawing a bizarre rack that could leave Austin outrun.
>Austin: CEEGHPU D5 .UEP +18 262
#note Austin went deep into the tank on this move. I think the commentary liked GEEP at N1 saving the U for a crazy Q bingo.
>Jesse: ?EILNOU C7 OUtLINE +71 364
>Austin: CEGHINP 13A CH.EPING +67 329
>Jesse: ACEEITU A8 ACETI. +33 397
#note it's going to be really hard for Austin to win from here - the Ss are good so no column O plays, and no huge Z hotspots. Maybe Z play on column H and then I hit a clunky rack, or a bingo from the L on row 10, but that's about it.
>Austin: ABENOOR 12C .OOB +24 353
#note great idea - sets up a huge Z spot at F14 if he can draw it, tricky to block without giving him some counter-play.
>Jesse: EEINRUZ 14F ZE +67 464
#note Jesse doesn't press clock hard enough, loses two minutes, down from 4:44. JD: again, the clock malfunctioned in the finals. *grumble grumble*. I'm lucky that I just pulled the Z. However, I realized that I can't play ZEIN because it gives back huge potential bingos - I saw WEAVING for 115 at 15G, and Q also points out TANIWHA at 15H. Just WEARING is still 106, and Austin could draw an outplay. Rather than put myself in danger, ZE gives me better tempo (even if Austin plays WHIRRET for 100+). The downside of this move is that it gives Austin more time to do something crafty, but I still believe it's the safer option.
>Austin: AAEHNRR H10 RAN.E +19 372
#note stream wanted something else. can't remember.
>Jesse: AEINNRU 15H RUNE +33 497
#note it's strictly academic, but saving the E by playing RUIN allows me a lot of nice outs on row 15 - in particular, if I draw the V or W, Austin will get to go out first.
>Austin: AGHIRTV N1 THIR +21 393
#note sweet endgame, best play
>Jesse: AINW E11 W.. +16 513
#note ran out of time, best is WAT at 7M.
>Austin: AGV 10G G.AV +16 409
>Austin: (AIN) +6 415
