Player 1
#player1 JJB John J. Bulten
#player2 YMP Ying Ming Poh
>JJB: ?BCEEIN 8F BENEfIC +76 76
>JJB: ADDIJPT (challenge) +5 81
#note 1:55 [23:05] The first player in the last game being agreeably chosen by tile draw, JJB thankfully opens with the only bingo and looks forward to the E hook. His placement ranks .6 behind 8d.
>YMP: ADQ K5 QAD. +28 28
#note 0:35 [24:25] YMP's challenge is immediate (1 second).
>JJB: ADDIJPT L1 PADDI +35 116
>JJB: ADDIJPT -- -35 81
#note 3:04 [20:01] JJB invents a variant that he thinks should be in Collins but isn't; and didact l4 is a better play anyway (44.1 better than passing).
>YMP: BLOW 7G BOW +33 61
#note 1:34 [22:51] YMP challenges again after 16 seconds, and wins this time. He lays down blow 9d 26 but takes time and repositions wisely to bow 7g 33.
>JJB: ADDIJPT 6J J.P +28 109
#note 0:33 [19:28] Didact still wins by 8.9.
>YMP: ALMP 7K .AMP +19 80
#note 1:39 [21:12] Clamp l8 22 is available and probably better in points, opening, and potential response.
>JJB: ADDIILT 8N ID +13 122
#note 0:40 [18:48] Besides missing id 9f 17, in addition (33) with a little time dilation (30) JJB might've seen a litany of beneficial (47!) extensions, worth up to 22.1 more.
>YMP: KLN N7 ..NK +20 100
#note 0:37 [20:35] YMP displays consonant heaviness.
>JJB: ADEILLT 9A TALLIED +73 195
#note 0:48 [18:00]
>YMP: FGLMRT B7 GR.FT +17 117
#note 0:46 [19:49] YMP overdraws and cheerfully accepts GM while saying goodbye to an O. He dumps well and still can catch JJB.
>JJB: AHLNORV 11K VALOR +27 222
#note 0:42 [17:18] JJB takes best advantage of another hook.
>YMP: EELMNRV A11 ERVEN +29 146
>YMP: DELMUW (challenge) +5 151
#note 1:19 [18:30] 2.0 behind elven, but ahead after a challenge. YMP remarks that it's just the plural of erf#. The happy extension paceman# l6 26 is also slightly better.
>JJB: AEHNNOS A6 HAE. +30 252
#note 1:56 [15:22] JJB blocks one danger but does not know rhone# 36 (14.2 better) or spot hose 12l 43.
>YMP: DELMUW L10 W.ULED +24 175
#note 0:29 [18:01] For more points and less risk, try ledum# 10f 30.
>JJB: FHNNNOS 14J FO.HN +38 290
#note 0:28 [14:54] The word JJB wanted to see two games prior.
>YMP: EIMORTZ 15D MORTIZE +118 293
>YMP: EIMORTZ -- -118 175
#note 1:22 [16:39] Sextupled Z and 70+ points are available at 10f with ze#/zero or 14f with erotize. Instead YMP convinces himself that mortice/mortise has another spelling because amortise/amortize does, an error worth 60.2. Later he determines that this is a pair spelled like pentice#/pentise#.
>JJB: AANNSXY 13A .AX +26 316
#note 2:12 [12:42] Another simplistic play. Cleverest is sdayn# 15k 39 (by 13.9) or xylans 40.
>YMP: EIMORTZ 10F ZE +72 247
#note ~2:19 [~14:20] Zero and ze# rate equally on leave.
>JJB: AINNOSY 15F ANNOY +32 348
#note 0:32 [12:10] JJB considered anyon but missed anyons/zea# 51 and settles for 9.8 less.
>YMP: IMORT 14A .MIT +29 276
#note ~1:35 [12:45]
>JJB: CIOOSUU D9 .OCI +12 360
#note 2:22 [9:48] JJB begins concern about retaining his lead. The only plays better than trading to CS are douc# 15l 28 (22.9 diff) and lou# 13l 18.
>YMP: ORT 15E T..... +9 285
#note 0:50 [11:55] YMP tries for a bingo and shows off another hook. JJB has had enough challenges at this point. Io#/ooze 15 was available.
>JJB: EIOOSUU 7A ..IOS +7 367
#note 0:56 [8:52] JJB says goodbye to his leave and blocks all lines for a sacrifice of 34.8 in value compared to euoi#/zee 17.
>YMP: ORSTY O11 .OYST +39 324
#note 1:56 [9:59] YMP tries to catch up in points without hurting his chance to bingo with the blank.
>JJB: EEORTUU H10 EURO +17 384
#note 0:40 [8:12] This time JJB can make the only play better than trading all and have respectable leave and endgame.
>YMP: GRU E4 RUG. +10 334
#note ~3:29 [~6:30] A carefully considered bold opener; and YMP draws a bingo rack afterward.
>JJB: EEGISTU H1 EGESTI.. +30 414
#note 3:20 [4:52] JJB can bingo with guerites# 70, allowing the likes of aristae 74+2, net -6 with I in the bag (and 37.1 better static). However, he finally spots one of the serious extensions and thinks about an 80-point lead. He triple-checks his tracking and verifies that there is mathematically no way for opponent to score more than 74+2 regardless of leave, and that win certainty is a safer calculation than his own bingo and its overlap risk. So JJB plays the 30 and sportingly gives YMP one more chance to bingo.
>YMP: ?AAEIRS 2F RE.AlIAS +60 394
#note ~6:19 [0:11] YMP takes his time but settles easily, as it doesn't matter. The doubles were gasalier/igarapes# 70, and lower were angaries/anergias, lairages, arriages# 62. YMP classily selects a Collins-only plural.
>YMP: (IU) +4 398
#note WMP ran out of draw synergy after the first three games, while JJB, blessed with it, missed a staggering set of vocab additions, and some common words like beneficial 47. This final game establishes Ryan Fischer (with a bye) as tournament winner, YMP second. Points improvable based on tiles played: JJB 0, YMP 10 (same as last game!). Points improvable based on values: JJB 208.4, the largest part due to sacrificial choices that eventually guaranteed the win.
