Player 1
#player1 JJB John J. Bulten
#player2 NL Noel Livermore
>JJB: ?EEIORX H6 EXO +20 20
#note 1:08 [23:52] Clearly the best word, where JJB prefers h6 for northwest movement but Quackle prefers 8h for .5 less vulnerability.
>NL: AEELSTU G7 ELUATES +72 72
#note 1:03 [23:57] For the third time this morning, NL's opening rack is a bingo with an obscure but playable Collins alternate (setuale# 61). NL could get 1 more point at g2.
>JJB: ?EIKORY I8 YOlKIER +71 91
>JJB: AGILPQT (challenge) +5 96
#note 3:17 [20:35] And, for the third time, JJB replies to the opening-rack bingo with a bingo. JJB glanced at a list containing kryolite (78) recently, but it has not yet come up in intense study; he also declined yolkier/rex 77 and missed yorkies#/sex 76.
>NL: AII 10G .A.II +6 78
#note 1:49 [22:08] NL, confident of yolky but not its comparative, challenges after 15 seconds, and dumps vowels successfully like no tomorrow.
>JJB: AGILPQT F5 QAT +24 120
#note 2:20 [18:15] Qat plays in 3 places for 24; but pigtail 40 plays for quadruple (12.1 better)!
>NL: DORRT K6 TORR.D +14 92
#note 0:58 [21:10] Since NL is holding bingo tiles and no extra Rs, editor 18 might have been better.
>JJB: EGIILPU L2 GUILE +14 134
#note 3:24 [14:51] The non-go JJB is trying to remember is guipure. He could get 4 more on this dump with the unstudied reguli; gilpies# 20 also plays.
>NL: AEILNSW M6 LAWINES +65 157
#note 1:13 [19:57] Another safe play in case swealing# 72 was questionable.
>JJB: CILNPPR 3I PIC.L +24 158
#note 0:58 [13:53] Respectable dump, but cripple and piperic# play in row 12 for up to 7.8 more value. Missing turnover plays is starting to contribute to poor leave.
>NL: BOY H13 YOB +32 189
#note 1:23 [18:34] As the sequel shows, excellent balance.
>JJB: DINNPRT J2 P.NT +12 170
#note 2:04 [11:49] This time JJB takes the time to find the correct leave and is nearly caught up, but bingo lines are shutting down.
>NL: AEIMNST N8 ETAMINS +89 278
#note 0:57 [17:37] The high play and high point of the game (tamines# also plays). NL pulls away and JJB needs power plays to catch up.
>JJB: BDFNORT O4 FROND +60 230
#note 0:47 [11:02] JJB can recover some of the points at least.
>NL: AESV N1 VASE +29 307
#note 1:39 [15:58] NL elects to cash his fourth S.
>JJB: ABGIJMR O12 MAIR +39 269
#note 1:11 [9:51] JJB continues to play catchup, despite leave; jambe 32 rates .5 more and might have saved his next rack. Also playable on premiums are bajri#, jirga#, jagra, jambu#, and bajra#.
>NL: AF J14 FA +27 334
#note 1:39 [14:19]
>JJB: BDGGHJN -BDGGHJN +0 269
#note 0:49 [9:02] JJB trades everything to claim the remaining blank, rather than keeping DN worth 2.1. Gju# 11 is quite a distance behind.
>NL: IZ 4H ZI. +26 360
#note 0:25 [13:54] Further closing an already closed board.
>JJB: ?EEENOO 1M E.O +18 287
>JJB: ?EEJNNO (challenge) +5 292
#note 3:29 [5:33] JJB smiles at this rack but spends time trying to improve a dump that cannot be improved upon (except by drawing a challenge!).
>NL: ER K1 RE. +11 371
#note ~1:54 [~12:00] It's nearly obligatory for NL to stay within the existing bounds.
>JJB: ?EEJNNO 11B JENNE. +26 318
#note 2:18 [3:15] Always shake thoroughly after trading! JJB, having forgotten, redraws the JN he had just ditched; but he still finds the best play and opener.
>NL: OV C9 VO. +10 381
#note ~2:00 [~10:00] Blocks much better than evo# 12.
>JJB: ?DGGHOT 8A GOeTH +33 351
#note 2:37 [0:38] NL has left one tile. Ironically, JJB drew the DGGH he had traded and is about to draw the seventh such tile, the B. He makes the best play that uses the blank, 7.0 behind Quackle's choice of nogg d11 12, but no top plays really allow hope of going out, and choosing points here allows NL a strong unseen response.
>NL: ACDHUUW D3 WAUCH. +28 409
>NL: DU (challenge) +5 414
#note ~1:20 [~8:40] NL can clinch the win easily on vocabulary.
>JJB: BDG 4C B.G +6 357
#note 0:24 [0:14] JJB challenges in 18 seconds and makes the best play in 6 more.
>NL: DU B11 .UD +11 425
#note ~0:10 [8:30]
>NL: (D) +4 429
#note JJB said during this session that he doesn't mind losing when he doesn't have the win mathematically, which applies here where he only gave up 41 Quackle evaluation points, much less than the margin. NL complemented three natural list bingos with very precise play, and JJB could not catch up even with the two blanks, his only serious errors being missing common double-doubles (pigtail and cripple). Points improvable based on tiles played: NL 10, JJB 11. Points improvable based on values: JJB 41.0.
