>Mina: AAINUVZ 8G NAZI +26 26
#note MDS: Very surprising. Rather than playing NAZI for 26 leaving AUV, Quackle says it's more than twice as good to open with UVA (or else VAU) even though it scores less than half as much. Even AVIAN gets a higher valuation than NAZI. I find this terribly counterintuitive and am not sure what lesson to draw from this. I thought an expert wasn't supposed to fear any bad tile (U/V) that much. I thought momentum (scoring pressure) was important.
>Cedric_Lewis: AAAFOOU -IIIQUUU +0 0
#note CL: Q agrees with changing 7 lmao
>Mina: AERSTUV G5 VAU.TERS +63 89
>Cedric_Lewis: BCEFKPR J6 BR.CK +29 29
#note CL: Q prefers FAB/FAP at 6F. I was instead trying to reach for the blanks and Ss while making the board less playable with my move.
>Mina: ACEEEUW F9 AWEE +34 123
#note MDS: Best play.
>Cedric_Lewis: EFFGGNP E10 EFF +42 71
#note CL: Q knew that the 4 tile play was gonna be disastrous.
>Mina: AACEEEU 5E CU.EE +20 143
#note MDS: Best play.
>Cedric_Lewis: GGJLNPV -IIIIIII +0 71
#note CL: Q prefers GUNG at F4. I am honestly not too sure how this can work here considering how the board is shaping up now.
>Mina: AAEIITT K10 AIT +12 155
#note MDS: Having started this tournament 0-4, I wasn't even able to pull out a win against someone who exchanged twice in the first four turns. My play is considered fifth best; I didn't see 9I A(C)AI and I didn't know Quackie's top choices, H1 TATI(E) and H12 TAIT, proving that those types of words are useful to learn after all.
>Cedric_Lewis: AIMNORY 4H MAYOR +35 106
#note CL: Toss up between MORAY/MAYOR at the same spot. Would have played MORNAY if I saw it. IN leave is still solid.
>Mina: AEEGHIT H12 THAE +32 187
#note MDS: Shame, shame, shame. I missed a common-word bingo, HERITAGE, which I've even studied as an alphagram. Next highest scoring play was H11 ETAGE, which I didn't see.
>Cedric_Lewis: ?AEIMNS L7 AMNESIc +85 191
>Mina: EGIINOX 14E IXI. +27 214
#note MDS: Completely didn't see the best play, OXI(ME) at the top. Missing the X overlap plays on column M was bizarre too. Lesson: look at the entire board and generate more candidate plays?!
>Cedric_Lewis: ?GGLLOU 6F G.G +22 213
#note CL: Considered MUGG but failed to see the value there.
>Mina: DEGLNOW 3K WOG +21 235
#note MDS: Completely didn't see the best play, 3I DOWEL for 40. I guess that's the type of thing you miss when you look too much at your rack and not enough at the board, as Cesar recently surmised I do.
>Cedric_Lewis: ?BILLNO 5K OBI +27 240
#note CL: Again, MUGG would have given me another lane for a bingo. It is also not impossible to bingo from the bottom left quadrant.
>Mina: DELNRUY M7 YU +22 257
#note MDS: The best play was a super clever squeeze of NUD(E)LY at 15E! I don't find things like that! Next best was 2L DULY, which was within my reach. Instead my leave is so clunky....
>Cedric_Lewis: ?DILLNS 8L ..LL +18 258
>Mina: DEELNRS 15B LEND +9 266
#note MDS: I saw LENDERS and SLENDER but they didn't play. I wrote on my scoresheet, "endreels?" but I didn't know or see N(E)EDLERS, which was the correct play.
>Cedric_Lewis: ?DHILNS 12C IN.... +18 276
#note CL: Funny enough, I wrote down all the highest scoring plays but did not play any of them. SANDHILL (O1) and ENSHIELD (15H).
>Mina: EOPRRRS 14J POSER +35 301
>Mina: ADQRRTT (challenge) +5 306
#note MDS: Good on me for taking a chance on AMNESIcS!
>Cedric_Lewis: ?ADHLOS O12 DASH +38 314
>Mina: ADQRRTT 13A QAT +28 334
#note MDS: D'oh, it scored two points more if placed one row lower.
>Cedric_Lewis: ?IILNOO 11A NIL +6 320
>Mina: DEENRRT N6 DE.T +15 349
#note MDS: Quackle favors DER(N) or TER(N) at A8. Of course that's better than keeping two Rs like I did... did I just not think of it??
>Cedric_Lewis: ?DIOOTU M2 U. +3 323
#note CL: Keeping it volatile. Cannot empty the bag. Not a very good play also.
>Mina: EJNOORR 1K REJON +50 399
#note MDS: He left one in the bag, with a blank unseen. I can't block both bingo lanes, so I figure just grab one and score high. Quackle Championship Player says I picked correctly.
>Cedric_Lewis: ?DIOOTV A4 DeVOTIO. +89 412
#note MDS: He actually went over, so the final score was 412-399.
CL: Phew.
>Cedric_Lewis: (OPR) +10 422
