>Jim_Burlant: ADNNOTU 8H UNDO +10 10
#note Rushed. Should probably play DUNNO 8D for 16. This is weak, but it worked out. (-4.3)
>Paul_Epstein: ADEGIRT I2 DERATI.G +64 64
>Jim_Burlant: AEHNTUW 2B UNTHAWE. +84 94
#note When I put UNTHAWED (the only available bingo) down, I took it as an omen that this was going to be my game; I unloaded a U and bingoed on my second turn with UW in my rack.
>Paul_Epstein: OX 1A OX +36 100
>Jim_Burlant: ACKNSSS 4H C.ANKS +30 124
#note Hmm. Quackle thinks I should play SHACKS E1 or SNACKS L3/L8. I don't mind telegraphing a second S, but I don't want to telegraph a third by dumping two of them. I figured I'd be hooking an S or bingoing with 2 S's later.
>Paul_Epstein: EJLU K7 J.ULE +24 124
>Jim_Burlant: AEEFISS 1G EF +35 159
#note Since he blocked SAFETIES, I debated between this and FEASE on row 12. FEASE does a much better job cleaning the rack than EF. But unless he's got the case S, I should use the JOULE back hook later, not now. I figured that H1 was the much more likely spot to be taken out. This is best.
>Paul_Epstein: EOV E2 .OVE +20 144
>Jim_Burlant: AEIIOSS C2 .AOI +8 167
#note Blocked again. I didn't have any great plays, but I was going to play STOAI D1 and address the vowel overload and duplicated S. I initially considered 7K JIAO, but didn't like what it gave back. Then I saw this. Better play looks to be M3 OSSIA for 12. I never recognized it. Best, however, is another play I missed: 5K OI. (-5.5)
>Paul_Epstein: BELMNOS 12E NOMBLES +77 221
#note I was stunned when this came down, since I didn't expect him to be sitting on the case S so early. Not with the way this game had seemed to be going my way.
>Jim_Burlant: EEIIRSS H12 .RIE +18 185
#note Right idea, wrong execution. Should probably play BISE or 13F SEI. (-5)
>Paul_Epstein: AFRY 11C FRAY +29 250
>Jim_Burlant: ?DEILSS 14G D.SLIkES +70 255
#note This is not perfect, but it's not a huge miss. The row 15 bingoes are all 60-point air balls. Best is apparently C8 SULFIDES for 72.
>Paul_Epstein: GOOP 10B GOOP +23 273
>Jim_Burlant: ACMQRTW 13M MAW +26 281
#note Of late, I never seem to find CWM. CWMS M1 looks a lot better than this if only to preserve my A. Better yet, why not play 13C QAT or K1 TRANQ? This is brain-dead.
>Paul_Epstein: EGIOR C8 GO..IER +24 297
>Jim_Burlant: ACQRRTU K1 QUA.T +28 309
#note I saw two plays: B6 QUA and this. QUA scores 35, but at this stage I can't play for 35 and give back an easy 66 if he's got ZA. I'm still blind to TRANQ for some reason. TRANQ balances the rack much better than this. The consolation: my next draw was the final nail in my coffin even if I had played this turn correctly.
>Paul_Epstein: IZ 8A ZI. +39 336
>Jim_Burlant: BCDRRTT 5B D.R.CT +9 318
#note I finally get one right. No need to exchange, but that last draw really hurt.
>Paul_Epstein: EHT 15M THE +29 365
>Jim_Burlant: ?ABPRTY B13 BAY +24 342
#note Two problems with UPBY 2K: first, it blocks potential Q extensions with the blank. Secondly, with 2 unseen E's, he's all but certain to play down the O column. I also knew the M column wasn't going to remain open, which ruled out fishes like BEY 11J. Q prefers that I leave one in the bag, but I need the extra points and I can score at A15 while he really can't. The duck says I had the right idea, but that less was more and that B12 BY was the play. I dunno. Given the next draw, I'm not sure anything really would have mattered.
>Paul_Epstein: EEILNNV M4 .NIVEL +14 379
>Jim_Burlant: ?AIIPRT 1K .uIRT +39 381
#note Or O8 RIPSAW/PITSAW. No single mistake stands out; overall I made too many second-tier plays instead of first-tier plays. Possibly, but not definitely, the difference. Room for improvement for sure.
