Player 1
#player1 Josh Josh
#player2 Mack Mack
>Josh: ENORZ H4 ZONER +48 48
#note Context: going into the final two games, Josh needs to beat me both times by a combined spread of +382 to win the tournament. Given that, I'm OK with losing this game if it's by a small margin and will adjust accordingly.
>Mack: AIIIKTT 5D TAIK. +18 18
#note Normally I'd probably play KAINIT, but given the tournament context don't want to concede an easy 100 point 2*2 with KAINITE, so went with this.
>Josh: GJ F4 J.G +15 63
>Mack: AIILNRT G5 .INA +18 36
#note Maybe just KIR, though this at least forces bingoes ending in S to score less and give back a lot more.
>Josh: ?CDERSY 8E SC..REDlY +64 127
#note I was essentially positive this was no good since I'd have studied it before, but given the tournament situation it seemed wise to let it go and bingo myself, whereas if I challenge it off I'm scoring like 15 and Josh still has an S and a blank. This way, I turn over more tiles to end the game faster (which minimizes the chance of a blowout) and eliminate an S and blank from play, which minimizes the amount of bingos - or, worse, the odds of a triple-triple - later on.
>Mack: EEGILRT J2 GLEETI.R +65 101
#note Normally I'd play LEGERITY for 11 more, which I saw, but obviously not here. This keeps the board tightest of all placements of GLEETIER which I want here even though I'm down in the game.
>Josh: III -III +0 127
>Mack: AEIMRVW M3 WAVER. +32 133
#note Again, likely 4A WIVE under normal circumstances, but not here.
>Josh: RTW 4L W.RT +16 143
>Mack: BEFHIMO O4 .HIEF +33 166
>Josh: ?EILNRS F8 .aRLINES +63 206
>Mack: BGIIMOP 15F .IMP +24 190
#note Missed GISMO, though this does make 7s harder to play on row 14.
>Josh: IX K5 XI +38 244
>Mack: BDGIOOT 11E G.OBOID +44 234
>Josh: OOO -OOO +0 244
>Mack: AACETUU 13E U.AU +5 239
>Josh: D 12F .D +7 251
>Mack: ACEHSTV L11 SCHAV +46 285
>Josh: EILNPST 2C PESTLIN. +63 314
>Mack: AEEEFOT 15K O.ATE +24 309
#note Blocking big QUA- plays on row 14 and hoping for something big on the top left - looks good
>Josh: Q H1 Q. +33 347
>Mack: AEEFNNT 4A FANE +26 335
#note Now with that pool I'm comfortable opening up a triple triple
>Josh: OOY A1 YOO. +30 377
>Mack: ABDENTU 14I UNB.TED +41 376
#note A nice fit, but not quite enough.
>Josh: AELMOOU 13K A.EM +34 411
>Mack: A C2 .A. +10 386
#note Perhaps I'd have had a better shot to win this game if I made some other choices I'd have made under normal circumstances, but given the situation I feel like I played how I needed to play and got a result I was willing to accept going in (a small loss that basically guaranteed the tournament win, since Josh now has to beat me by 365 in the last round).
>Mack: (LOOU) +8 394
