>jackson: ADEEORW 9I AWE +19 19
#note I think AZO is a good play - DEERW has a lot of bingo potential, and I make the position difficult, on top of being scoring defensive. AWE isn't a very good play - 7E OWE or WOE are both fine (probably OWE after the dictionary update). AWE gives back more than both of them and isn't as good for me. the extra 6 points doesn't quite cover the difference.

#note thought about LECTOR instead, but at my slight defecit and the T hook open (which I might get to hit a small fraction of the time), this makes sense.

>heather: AEH F2 HAE +31 180
>jackson: DELSVYY N1 VELD +31 166
#note statically the S doesn't add much value to YY. maybe because YY takes away so much from the S's bingo value, and even some from the scoring value (Y usually ends words, as S often does). The Y is basically a worse version of the S as a scoring tile!

given bearcats open and ROLLS open, the sim has VELDS and VELD very close!
>heather: DENOOSU 13L .UO +8 188
#note she said this was the rack
>jackson: AEMSSYY 14J MESSY +56 222
#note big mistake here. I wasn't 100% sure THEROIDS* was phony, and I thought YAYS was phony! 10F YAYS is an amazing play after DUO - I still can hit BEARCATS plays, but I block the two S hooks on the board after her fish! This is such a huge error

MASSY is prob still better than MESSY, a bingo rack plays just as much under messy as massy, it's really just a few extra scoring tiles that go under the A and not the E. I was really uncomfortable doing this with her strong range, but the next best alternative I saw was MAYS(T) or MAYES(T), which was meh.

#note I like keeping AEGP? cause it hits the ZA hooks decently well. I am hoping she doesn't have a decent block. If I open the left side I risk being outrun
>heather: CGI 10G CIG +19 386
>jackson: ?AEGNPV 8A VANGs +41 356
#note I took a long time here and was very unsure. I think I chose wrong, because the VANGs plan works out so rarely. The plan is to draw the other blank and the X, hit 3C and outrun with the blank. This is helped if she decides to block for not many points through the A in VANGs. however, the pool is nicely balanced and scoring heavy, and the A helps out the extra consonants in the pool. Blocking through the A will be easy and successful and will very likely outrun any 3a X plays. VANGs may still win sometimes, especially if I open up another lane at the bottom, but it's really really unlikely to happen.

I didn't like EV(EN) because it gets outrun a lot. V(U)G and VAG(U)E are both worth considering, and I think both are better than VANGs. VUG. VUG's path to victory is to score next turn and leave 1 in the bag - the B column I'm opening is really hard to block without opening a new lane. There's the definite downside of 8a plays she could have which outrun lots of bingoes I could have, but I probably need to draw the blank no matter what.

the timing of VUG usually wouldn't be so good, but since she can't block easily, it's better. The biggest advantages of VAGUE and VANGs are that I draw the blank way more often, which is probably a necessary thing to do to win the game. The timing of VAGUE isn't so much better than VUG - I still am probably needing to leave 1 in the bag - I need to outrun and so I need her to empty the bag.

I think VUG or VAGUE are the plays - I'm leaning towards VUG because the lane is harder to block, but I'm not sure.

#note actual rack - very smart to block the X bomb. the pool is really bad so bingoes aren't a real threat.
>jackson: AEKOPPX B8 .PPEAK +20 376
#note I thought maybe if I draw the blank and she misses OK she might not challenge and this could work.

I figured she had a blank a lot of the time after RUM, cause with a blank unseen (and me having just played one for 41), she might be inclined to block the bingo lanes, but this was my desperate attempt to win. Given spread is somewhat important, playing just APE(A)K is fine

I made at least 4 clear errors this game! very well played by heather.
